Shared universes are all the rage now, ever since the domination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe came to pass. But the MCU was hardly the first cinematic venture to willfully connect its disparate characters and franchises -- Universal Pictures put their Monsters together as early as 1943's "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man," and the movies of filmmakers like John Hughes, Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino all have varying degrees of connective tissue.

Cyclops, Firefly and Thingamabob stormed “The Masked Singer” stage on Wednesday night, singing their hearts out in the Group A final on Fox. Ultimately Team Good’s resident diva reigned supreme and punched her ticket to the Season 7 finale. Team Bad’s Cyclops was forced to unmask first after receiving the fewest votes for his performance of “Flashdance (What a Feeling)” by Irene Cara. The one-eyed monster was none other than “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-0” actor Jorge Garcia.

Nope, the unmasking we’re all dreading still didn’t happen in Week 3 of “The Masked Singer,” as two more celebrities exited the show in a double elimination. Exiting this week were “Lost” and “Hawaii Five-0” star Jorge Garcia, who had performed as the Cyclops, and Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, revealed as the Thingamabob.

Garcia, as Cyclops (from “Team Bad”), ended his run after a stirring rendition of “Flashdance (What a Feeling),” by Irene Cara, while Mailata, as Thingamabob (from “Team Cuddly”), sang “Classic,” by Mkto. Neither were guessed by any of the show’s panelists.

The calendar's creeping closer to the Halloween premiere of the Ash vs Evil Dead series, and to help hold fans over until the boomstick king is back onscreen, Starz recently released a video of the show's New York Comic Con panel that was hosted by Kevin Smith and featured Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, Lucy Lawless, and more.

It's underappreciated films time again, and this week, we delve deep into the year 2005 - a collection of months dominated by the likes of Star Wars: Episode III, another Harry Potter, Steven Spielberg's War Of The Worlds, Peter Jackson's King Kong, and CG family movie Madagascar.

It was also the year Pierce Brosnan formally bowed out of his role as James Bond, and Martin Scorsese's The Aviator was hyped to win the director his first Oscar, but didn't. Still, the contents of this list received nothing like the acclaim of The Aviator, nor the financial pickings of a Star Wars or Harry Potter. As ever, we've focused on 25 films which we think deserve a bit more love.

Almost every great director had a low budget start. When comparing Quentin Tarantino’s first feature film, Reservoir Dogs to Chris Notarile’s second major project, Stand Off, there is no denying a few similarities—and Notarile shows plenty of potential as an indie producer/director. He has had plenty of practice with his short genre films on his website, Blinky Productions, and in his foray into feature length movies, he is keeping the movies he likes to make simple.

With Stand Off, there’s a deeper meaning that can be found, or it can simply be enjoyed at face value. And just like this director’s other short film projects, Notarile has no problems in borrowing from other works. He releases...

Being a ‘fan’ means many things to many people. To a troublingly large section of the population, it apparently means dressing as Knuckles the Echidna and sobbing alone in front of a mirror, while to others it simply means an interest that goes slightly beyond the causal. One thing common to all fans, from those who carve “Qt Rox U3 Sux” into the side of a burning dog before throwing it through a friend’s window, to those who just happen to know slightly more about Batman than most, is the willingness to let their interest – at least partially – define who they are.

Some 11 years after the syndicated Hercules TV show ended, actor Kevin Sorbo is accusing his former bosses of hiding profits.

Hercules: The Legendary Journeys revolves around the mythical brave and handsome son (Sorbo) of the classic Greek gods as he makes his way through a fantasy version of Ancient Greece. Others in the series include Michael Hurst, Kevin Smith, and Robert Trebo. The series ran for six seasons and spun-off another popular syndicated TV show, Xena: The Warrior Princess.

Sorbo is accusing execs behind the show of "creative accounting" in order to hide money made from the series to avoid paying the actors their share of profits.

On the surface, The Flash may seem too simple of a project to make into a decent movie, but it’s that simplicity of the character that has always intrigued me. As a superhero, The Flash is not complicated. Regardless of which of the four incarnations you reference, The Flash embodies superhuman speed, agility, quick-thinking and intelligence and even the ability to defy certain law of physics, such as being able to vibrate so fast he can walk through walls or leap to alternate dimensions.

For the sake of argument, and popularity, we’ll focus on the most popular incarnation of The Flash. The story of Barry Allen began back in 1956, when DC Comics made the successful decision to modernize it’s most popular characters. In this re-imagining of The Flash, scientist Barry Allen is exposed to some powerful chemical agents when lightning strikes his lab, resulting in an exponentially-enhanced metabolism and physical ability.

16 February is a very sad day in Xenaverse history. On this day in 2002 we lost Kevin in a tragic accident in China. I remember when the news hit; wasn't sure if it was a cruel hoax or if it was real. A good majority of the webmasters emailed each other to find out if it was indeed real and it was sadly very true. At the time there was a convention underway in Pasadena and the news filtered through which had a huge impact on those present. Virginia and Lourdes wrote a report which included the following:

With the tragic news of Kevin Smith’s death, everyone was sad including the stars on stage. Renee O’Connor, Ted Raimi, Hudson Leick, Victoria Pratt, Alexandra Tydings, Alexis Arquette, Bruce Campbell, Steve Sears and Lucy Lawless (live telephone call) paid tribute to Kevin. Touching words and remembrances were shared at that sad moment.

I have finally updated the Greater Good subsite with all the totals for the auctions held on Ausxip. It amazed me how generous Xena fans are; I shouldn't be amazed because it's a fact that Xena fans are a generous group of souls.

Since 2006 when the first Ausxip Charity Auction was held to today, we have raised a whopping $20,142.86 for the various charities such as Starship Children's Heath, Alissa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, Renee O'Connor Outreach Fund, Kevin Smith Trust Fund and more. Not included in that tally is the auctions held by Adrienne Wilkinson to raise money for her charity which is awesome as well.

Season 2: Episode 7 Intimate Stranger. Added Sheryl-Lee's excellent review of this great episode. It's one of my all time favourites - love how Lucy becomes Hudson as Callisto and Hudson becomes Lucy as Xena. Two extremely talented actors...a joy to watch.

Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys star Kevin Smith has died from head injuries after a fall in China. The 38-year-old martial arts star, who was voted New Zealand's Sexiest Man at Christmas, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a hospital in Beijing last week. Smith, who played Ares, God Of War on both Xena and Hercules, leaves behind a wife and three sons. He was scheduled to start filming an action movie with Bruce Willis next month.
