Jere Shea is a Tony Award nominated American actor and musician. Jere stars in the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon produced Showtime series City On A Hill (2019) with Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge. Jere also starred as Giorgio in the film version of Stephen Sondheim's Broadway musical Passion (American Playhouse/PBS), a role he originated on Broadway (Tony Nomination, Best Actor in a Musical, 1994). He appears with Charlie Hunnam, Jack O'Connell and Jessica Barden in Max Winkler's film JUNGLELAND (2019). He has also appeared on Blue Bloods (CBS), Path to Paradise (HBO), Law & Order, The Cosby Mysteries (NBC) with Bill Cosby, Rita Moreno and James Naughton, and A Season in Purgatory (CBS miniseries) with Patrick Dempsey and Brian Dennehy. Jere played Dr. George Soper in Typhoid Mary (NOVA/PBS). He also appeared opposite Donnie Wahlberg, Will Arnett, Rose McGowen and Anne Meara in the feature film SOUTHIE (Best Film, Seattle Film Festival).
Equally at home on stage and screen, Jere received a Tony Award nomination for his performance as Giorgio opposite Donna Murphy and Marin Mazzie in the Broadway/world premiere of Stephen Sondheim's "Passion". He first garnered acclaim in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of "As You Like It" with Elizabeth McGovern and Michael Stuhlbarg. Jere also starred in Jerry Zaks' Broadway revival of "Guys and Dolls" with Nathan Lane and Faith Prince, and in Jack O'Brien's remounting of "Damn Yankees" with Victor Garber and Bebe Neuwirth. Jere has performed leading roles in theaters across the nation such as San Diego's Old Globe, ACT in San Francisco, Manhattan Theater Club, Roundabout Stage Company, Williamstown Theater Festival and the North Country Center for the Arts Papermill Playhouse, Lincoln, NH. A classically trained method actor, Jere has studied across the globe at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Acting Program (MFA), in the the Soviet Union at Stanislavski's Moscow Art Theatre School, and at Ireland's national Abbey Theatre in Dublin. Jere is also an accomplished singer, songwriter and guitarist, performing in large and small venues. He can be heard on the Grammy Award winning Original Broadway Cast recording of "Passion" (Producer Phil Ramone).
