Alexander Seibt was born in Frankfurt/Main, grew up in Zurich, and
received his acting lessons in Lucerne and Moscow. During the last
decade he worked with numerous film and theater directors, e.g. Daniel
Schmidt, Claude Chabrol, Samir, and Igor Bauersima. Together with
Bauersima, Pascal Ulli, and Ingrid Sattes, he founded the Off-Off
Theatre Group in Zurich in 1994. This collaboration soon turned out
tremendously creative and successful, producing and staging the plays
'Die Pflicht', 'Glücklich zu sein', 'Mixed', 'Forever Godard',
'Context', and others. In 1998 the group received the main award of the
Impulse Festival (Germany's main festival for the presentation of free
theater productions) for Igor Bauersima's 'Forever Godard', and they
were again invited with 'Context' in 1999. In 1996 Alexander co-starred
Pascal Ulli in the movie 'Nacht der Gaukler' (Night of the Clowns),
which soon reached fame among insiders, and in the short film 'Dr.
Younami's couch' by Igor Bauersima, which was invited to Locarno,
Melbourne, and the Slamdance Festival in Parc City.
Alexander is co-author of and plays lead in M. Alvarez 'Bevor es dunkel wird' (1999), and he was repeatedly awarded for this achievement, namely as Best Actor at the Court Ficcion Film Festival 2001 in Barcelona, as Best Male Actor and for the Best Script at the Medina del Campo.
