Warner Bros’ Investigation Discovery has announced a two-hour special on the late fallen footballer Aaron Hernandez.

Aaron Hernandez and the Untold Murders of Bristol will focus on the circumstances in Bristol, Connecticut, that bred a community of dangerous men, including three athletes on the same high school football team — Hernandez, Alex Ryng and Nicholas Brutcher — who all went on to become murderers.

It started with a photo of the men together on the football team and wanting to bring more attention to Murder Under the Friday Night Lights, said Jason Sarlanis, who oversees programming development and production at Investigation Discovery. He spoke during a fireside chat at Content London on Thursday while confirming the news of the special ahead of the show’s fourth season.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge has ruled that former Nickelodeon producer Dan Schneider can proceed with his defamation lawsuit over claims made in Investigation Discovery’s Quiet On Set limited series.

Schneider filed the lawsuit against Warner Bros Discovery, Maxine Productions, Sony Pictures and Quiet on Set producers Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz of defamation after the series premiered in March 2024.

In the Nov. 22 ruling, Judge Ashfaq G. Chowdhury denied a bid by Wbd and Maxine Productions to have the lawsuit thrown out. “This is manifestly not a case brought by Schneider on frivolous grounds, simply to harass defendants,” the court ruling read. “He’s suing defendants about a documentary they made about him, that focuses on his activities, and, which a reasonable viewer might conclude makes damning implications about his conduct.”

Dan Schneider’s defamation suit against the makers of the bombshell docuseries, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, will be allowed to continue, a California judge ruled late last week.

On Friday, Judge Ashfaq G. Chowdhury rejected a motion brought by the plaintiffs — led by Warner Bros. Discovery, Sony Pictures Television, and directors Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz — to toss Schneider’s lawsuit under California’s anti-slapp (strategic lawsuits against public participation) laws. Those laws are meant to deter lawsuits that could impede on free speech, especially on matters of public concern.

A judge has allowed showrunner Dan Schneider to proceed with his defamation lawsuit over the documentary “Quiet on Set,” which delved into sexual misconduct at Nickelodeon.

Schneider, the creator of numerous Nickelodeon shows across two decades, called the documentary a “hit job,” saying it falsely suggested either that he was a sexual abuser or was aware that two sexual abusers had been hired on his shows.

In a ruling issued Friday, Judge Ashfaq G. Chowdhury found that Schneider’s claims are not frivolous, and that a “reasonable viewer” might conclude that the documentary makes “damning implications about his conduct.”

The judge denied a motion filed by attorneys for Warner Bros. and Sony, which had sought to throw out the suit under the state anti-slapp statute, which bars litigation intended to chill speech on matters of public concern. They argued that the documentary did not actually accuse Schneider of sexual abuse.

iCarly viewers have an update on a possible resolution to the cancelled series. Star Miranda Cosgrove confirmed that something is in the works.

The recent iCarly is a continuation of the original series that Dan Schneider created. The 2007-12 show follows a group of best friends as they create a webcast for and about kids while grappling with everyday problems and adventures. The revival comedy stars Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, Nathan Kress, Laci Mosley, and Jaidyn Triplett. Picking up nearly 10 years later, it follows original influencer Carly Shay (Cosgrove), her brother Spencer (Trainor), and friend Freddie Benson (Kress) as they navigate work, love, and family relationships in their twenties. New characters include Harper (Mosley), Carly’s roommate and best friend, and Millicent (Triplett), Freddie’s snarky and social media-savvy stepdaughter.

In an appearance on “The Talk,” Cosgrove gave hints about what would happen without giving away all the information. “I’m not allowed to 100% confirm anything yet, but I think the fans are going to be super excited because we have something in the works,” she told the show’s hosts.

When asked if he would be interested in writing about known characters again, Cosgrove said the new project would end the story. “We ended the revival on a cliffhanger, and we’re going to wrap that up,” she told us. This comment suggests that fans will finally get answers to plot points that have been left open, like Carly and Freddie’s possible relationship and the mystery surrounding Carly’s mother.

In a new interview, Cosgrove discussed the possibility of a movie to tie up loose ends left by Paramount+’s decision to cancel the revival series after three seasons.

Investigation Discovery, the true-crime network behind this year’s bombshell Quiet on Set, announced on Wednesday they are in production on a docuseries exploring the rise and fall of Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The multipart doc, set for a 2025 release, will review “the rise and influence of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and the allegations of violent behavior and illegal activity that have trailed the music mogul,” per a release.

“As accounts of sexual assault, abusive behaviors, and other disturbing claims surface, the doc traces the story of this self-proclaimed Bad Boy, unraveling allegations of a pattern of depravity,” the release continues.

Released earlier this spring, Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, highlighted the voices of many former Nickelodeon stars describing toxic environment claims around shows created and run by producer Dan Schneider. The series far exceeded initial expectations and earned two Emmy nominations.

The creators of Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV say they’re open to making a follow up to the series, which scored two Emmy Nominations today, including Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series.

The five-part Investigation Discovery series documented alleged abuse suffered by stars of Nickelodeon series when they were children, including Drake Bell and Raquel Lee Bolleau of The Amanda Show, Shane Lyons, Katrina Johnson, Leon Frierson, Giovonnie Samuels, and Bryan Hearne of All That, and Alexa Nikolas of Zoey 101.

“The response to the project has been overwhelming, surprising and gratifying,” Executive Producer Mary Robertson told Deadline. “It has certainly grown beyond our every expectation, and it’s particularly rewarding to see the response to the [series] evolve into calls for protection within the entertainment industry.”

Emma Roberts weighed in on the allegations raised by the Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV docuseries.

The Investigation Discovery series featured former Nickelodeon stars retelling their experiences on the set of shows produced for the cable network under Dan Schneider’s leadership.

Roberts starred in Unfabulous, a sitcom created by Sue Rose, which ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon.

“It’s inexcusable,” she said in an interview with Flaunt about the sexual harassment allegations. “Kids need to be protected, adults need to be protected.”

The experience that Roberts had at Nickelodeon was different with her mother on the set with her.

“I have been lucky with the family I have and the people that I’ve worked with,” she added. “I try to keep doing my job and keep my head down.”

Emma Roberts isn’t staying quiet about being disturbed by the docuseries “Quiet on Set.”

Roberts, who is also a Nickelodeon alum, told Variety on the “Just for Variety” podcast that the ID series “really kept me up at night.” Roberts starred in kids show “Unfabulous” for three seasons; the series concluded in 2007. While Roberts noted that she could not relate to the testimonials captured in “Quiet on Set,” she empathizes with fellow former kid stars.

“I watched [‘Quiet on Set’], and I was completely horrified and shocked because that was not my experience,” Roberts said. “It made me really, really, really sad that that was happening to people that I literally saw often and had no idea.”
