Prior to living with Bisset he fathered two daughters, Catherine and Michele, by a woman he didn't marry.

Lived with Jacqueline Bisset from 1967 to 1973.

The play, "Michael's #1 Fan", written and directed by Frankie Avella (aka Frank J. Avella), was a fictional seriocomic piece about a fan of the actor. It was presented off-Broadway in 2000.

He was a winner of the Canadian Motion Picture Association's Star of Tomorrow Award.

Interred at a cemetery in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
