Rema, one of Nigeria’s biggest pop stars, has sampled British-Nigerian soul icon Sade Adu on his latest single, “Baby (Is It a Crime).” The sultry Afrobeats song borrows the titular refrain from the band Sade’s 1985 single “Is It a Crime.” The new track marks Rema’s first single since Bnxn’s “Fi Kan We Kan” in October.

Snoop Dogg has started his own cannabis company and recently opened his own dispensary. Much of his personal brand is centered around his marijuana use, as he proved when fans went into mourning when he said he was giving up smoke. It was, of course, part of a marketing campaign for a smokeless fire pit. The rapper and weed aficionado once shared his dream blunt rotation.

When asked about his dream blunt rotation, Snoop had one person at the front of his mind. He hoped to smoke with her before a recording session with Dr. Dre.

Snoop Dogg has built a reputation for his prolific marijuana consumption, something Dr. Dre became quite familiar with when the two smoked together. He said he has zero plans to smoke with Snoop again. The experience was far too overwhelming for him.
Dr. Dre said he never wants to smoke with Snoop Dogg again
When asked about his “dream blunt rotation,” Dr. Dre had a solid group of musicians lined up.
I’m going to go with [Kurt] Cobain. Ella Fitzgerald,” he told Complex in 2024. “I really like this version of her singing ‘Round Midnight.’ Thelonious Monk and George Clinton. But I smoked one time with Snoop.”

While Dr. Dre is friends with Snoop, he did not include him in his dream blunt rotation. He said that the one time he did smoke with Snoop, it was an experience he hopes to never relive.

André 3000 has a request: Please stop calling his latest project a “flute album.”
On New Blue Sun, the rap genius does indeed play a number of woodwind instruments, but the eight-track ambient jazz set also features bells, chimes, keyboards, cymbals, piano, drums, sintir, a gong and a wind controller.
“The media has touted it as this flute album and I think it’s a misrepresentation of the album. It’s way more than a flute album. They belittle it by calling it a flute album because there are actual flutists that have made flute albums, like Jethro Tull and Paul Horn,” 3000 tells THR. “I think it could be a turnoff to some people if they think, ‘Yo, he’s just in a room playing this flute.'”

Seemingly ever-dwindling attention spans have given commentators anxiety that people simply won’t care to engage with albums anymore. But time and again, artists have proved that they’re still committed to using the format to communicate a Big Idea, make a creative pivot, or announce a new chapter in their career. The album is still the most coherent way for us to understand where music culture is in any particular moment.

Director Sam Raimi has directed some truly iconic movies, yet his Western, The Quick and the Dead, is one of his most underrated films of all time, despite poor reviews. Raimi's rise to fame began back in 1981 when he directed the cult classic horror movie, The Evil Dead. From there, the director took on various different genres, from crime thrillers to fantasies. Notably, he helmed the much-loved Spider-Man movies from 2002 to 2007. Yet, one Raimi movie that is often overlooked, and is only now getting the attention it deserves, is his 1995 Western.
The Quick and the Dead is the seventh movie Raimi directed in his career, and is his only Western to date. The movie includes an incredibly star-studded cast, including Sharon Stone, Gene Hackman, Russell Crowe, Leonardo DiCaprio, and more. In the film, Stone plays "The Lady," a gunslinger who travels to the town of Redemption and enters a...

The reflective lyrics of Sade’s latest song “Young Lion,” her first in six years, consider feelings of lingering regret and sorrow. The musician’s son, Izaac Adu, serves as the subject of the record as she acknowledges her stumble in understanding during the early stages of his gender transition. After allowing it to live on its own for a few weeks, Sade has added another tender layer to the record through the use of old home footage that appear in its accompanying music video.

On “Young Lion,” Sade’s first song in six years and her contribution to the upcoming Transa compilation, the artist apologizes to her son, Izaak, for not understanding him better when he began transitioning genders. “Young man, I feel so heavy for you, you must have felt so alone,” she sings over a slow piano line and cinematic strings. “The anguish and pain, I should have known.” By the chorus, she recognizes his journey: “Young gun, see how far you’ve come.”

Warning: Contains Spoilers for Strange Darling!
Strange Darling is gaining a whole new fan base since its streaming release, and the film's ending is so much darker after hearing about this tragic fan theory. Despite Strange Darling being one of the most fun thrillers of 2024, the film is incredibly dark and violent, with it centering around murders and other upsetting topics. However, this fan theory posits that Strange Darling was setting up an even darker fate for Willa Fitzgerald's The Lady, with her death at the end of the film stopping the movie from taking the character down an even more tragic past.
Strange Darling was one of the biggest surprises of 2024, with Jt Mollner's low-budget thriller getting critically acclaimed upon its release. Strange Darling follows The Lady (Willa Fitzgerald) as she is pursued by The Demon (Kyle Gallner), who wants to violently get...

Some of the artists in the big room are trans; others are allies. The overall vibe is one of community.

“Strange Darling” (2024) is one of those films where the less you know, the better. Instead of learning anything specific about its plot, let’s look at some of its other details. Right before the film begins, the filmmaker tells us it is shot entirely on a 35 mm film. Those who appreciate this style have another reason to look forward to it. Besides, these days, it is much costlier to shoot on film than on digital especially if you need to go through several takes.
The decision to shoot on film comes with caveats. Especially in an indie production, the entire crew must aim for precision in the fewest takes. Considering all the long takes and elaborate tracking shots in “Strange Darling,” it deserves even more praise. Beyond its storytelling approach, the film impresses us with Jt Mollner’s direction and Willa Fitzgerald’s brilliant central performance.

There aren't many songs in the soundtrack of Wolfs, but the ones that do appear in the film pack quite a punch. Even though George Clooney and Brad Pitt's characters in Wolfs are never named, they have quite a bit of personality. That shines through in a few key ways, from how they both approach their jobs as fixers to the way they interact with one another and the rest of the cast of Wolfs, and it becomes most apparent at the end of Wolfs, when the fixers finally learn to let each other in.
Clooney's character gets to show off his own personality a bit more than Pitt's does, and that often came in the form of music. There are a few scenes where Margaret's Man has music playing on the radio, and those songs hint at who he really is. There are also a few...

Plot: Two top-level fixers (Brad Pitt and George Clooney) with underworld connections must overcome their rivalry when a job goes awry.
Review: Wolfs is getting a curiously unceremonious release, considering the talent involved. There was a time when Brad Pitt and George Clooney doing a buddy action movie together would have been an event. And the movie’s good to boot! Yet, Wolfs, which comes from director Jon Watts, who made the Tom Holland Spider-Man Trilogy for the MCU, I only got a quiet one-week theatrical run before its debut on Apple TV Plus on September 27th. It’s playing on precisely one screen here in Montreal and was not screened for critics.
So, what’s going on here? Probably, Apple is still licking its wounds from the embarrassing failure of their mega-budget movies, Argylle and Fly Me To The Moon, which, despite huge casts, cratered at the box office.

Spoilers for "Strange Darling" follow.
Jt Mollner's "Strange Darling" lives up to its title as dolled-up sleaze (the make-up being 35mm film). Half-erotic thriller and half slasher, it's a 21st century "Texas Chain Saw Massacre" structured like "Pulp Fiction." The film plays with you by taking a cut-and-dry premise and experimenting with how far it can twist. The result, which never breaks, is one of 2024's best horror films. (Read /Film's "Strange Darling" review here.)
What will keep you especially glued to the screen is Willa Fitzgerald's performance as "The Lady," a bleeding and terrified woman seemingly in need of help. Fitzgerald (who has been acting since 2008) has earned fans for her parts in the MTV "Scream" series and "Reacher" season 1 as Roscoe Conklin. She was also in Mike Flanagan's "The Fall of the House of the Usher," where she played the young Madeline Usher. Even in that series' huge ensemble,...

Oscar-nominated Rosamund Pike will make her debut at London’s National Theatre in 2025, and they’ve given her the starring role in the world premiere of a new work by Suzie Miller, the playwright who created Prima Facie, the legal drama that catapulted Jodie Comer to Olivier and Tony Award trophies.
Pike has been cast in Miller’s Inter Alia, in which she’ll play a British High Court judge forced to reckon with conflict in her private and professional life. The production will reunite Miller with director Justin Martin, who also directed Comer in Prima Facie in the West End and on Broadway.
Inter Alia will be part of the final season of National Theatre director and co-chief executive Rufus Norris, who steps down from his post on March 31, 2025 after a decade at the helm of the UK’s flagship theatrical institution. Norris...

Right at the end of summer, at the tail end of a movie season stuffed with whirling tornadoes, raging apes and a mouldy Michael Keaton, comes another welcome throwback: a low-budget thriller that emerges out of nowhere to bowl you over. With its enigmatic title and cast of relative unknowns, it was on few radars until recently. But it should be on your radar now — and not just because Stephen King himself has hailed it as “a clever masterpiece”. Strange Darling is a smart, slippery creation, one which largely lands its blows with a wallop, and which proves a major calling card for both its director and its female star.
“I’m going to have to ask you a question,” goes an early line of dialogue. “Are you a serial killer?” That question hangs over the whole bloody affair. We’re in a place called Hood River County, Oregon, an...

Warning: This article contains detailed spoilers for 2024's Strange Darling. The chronological order of the events of Strange Darling offers insight into the movie's full story as well as the reason it was told out of order. The 2024 serial killer thriller, which was written and directed by Jt Mollner, consists of six chapters and an epilogue presented out of order. This allows the twists and turns to play out with even more of a sense of disorientation and may be one reason the movie has earned a Certified Fresh 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes and an accolade from Stephen King, who called it a "clever masterpiece" on X.

Sade Adu is returning to the music scene at last.
The 65-year-old music icon is set to contribute to a new compilation called Transa, produced by Red Hot in support of the transgender and nonbinary communities, with a song called “Young Lion,” dedicated to her trans son Izaak and his journey.
“You must have felt so alone, I should have known,” Sade reportedly sings on the track via Dazed.

“It’s amazing to hear a legendary musician like Sade sing about her heartfelt experience as the parent of a trans child,” says album co-producer Massima Bell. “It’s incredibly powerful.”
The album, out November 20, is reported to feature over 100 artists across 46 tracks and eight chapters, which is a nod to the eight stripes on the Pride flag. Sam Smith, André 3000 and many more artists will be featured on the compilation.

A scene from ‘Strange Darling’ (Photo credit: Magenta Light Studios)
The opening crawl of Strange Darling says that the movie is about the last few murders of a prolific 21st Century serial killer whose reign of terror moved from Colorado to Wyoming and ended up in the woods of Oregon.
And that’s pretty much all you should know about the plot of the movie before you go see it.
With Strange Darling, writer/director Jt Mollner (Outlaws and Angels) redefines the cat-and-mouse thriller. What seems like a one-night stand situation goes horribly wrong for the characters, who are known only as The Lady (Willa Fitzgerald from The Fall of the House of Usher) and The Demon (Smile’s Kyle Gallner). Strange Darling is a visceral film that checks off just about every content warning box imaginable – violence, sex, drug use, all of them. And there is a twist at every turn.

The Lido is in a frenzy for Wolfs.
Backed by the star power of its veteran A-list stars, Brad Pitt and George Clooney, the Jon Watts-directed film from Apple and Sony had a triumphant world premiere at the Venice Film Festival late Sunday night on the Lido. Expectedly, the crush of fans and media situated outside Palazzo del Cinema went wild for the pair as they arrived on the scene ahead of the screening. And once the final frames hit the screen and the credits rolled, Wolfs received a nearly five-minute standing ovation. Pitt and Clooney seemed to be soaking up the attention, with Pitt singing along to Sade and Clooney offering a “Grazie” to close it out.

Continuing their 23-year onscreen collaboration, George Clooney and Brad Pitt brought their latest co-starring venture to the Venice Film Festival today as Wolfs world premiered out of competition. The official screening was greeted with a five-minute, 35-second ovation Sunday inside the Sala Grande.
The duo danced to Sade’s ‘Smooth Operator’ as the credits rolled and they greeted fans on the way out, during which they also received congratulations from Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch in the audience.
Also in attendance were cast members Amy Ryan and Austin Abrams. A no-show, however, was writer-director Jon Watts who, Clooney told the press this morning, is sick with Covid, “He flew all the way here and he got Covid and he’s now in bed.”

Brad Pitt and George Clooney hugged and danced at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday night as the two megastars’ latest film, “Wolfs,” received a polite four-minute standing ovation.
The premiere itself was delayed by more than 30 minutes as fans crowded into Venice’s Sala Grande in an attempt to catch a glimpse at Pitt and Clooney. When the duo finally arrived inside, the sound — and general vibe — in the theater could only be described as carnal. Both actors took to different sides of the carpet, signing autographs and taking selfies, before being whisked away to their seats by security.
As the two stars entered the theater, they greeted the eager crowd with a booming “Buonasera!,” prompting some fans to shout back in hopes of being noticed. Even as the film began rolling, the chaos continued, with those without tickets scrambling to find any empty seats. Some were ejected during...

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from the plot of Magenta Light Studios’s Strange Darling.
If you’re not familiar with the name Willa Fitzgerald, you will be soon.
A 33-year-old Nashville native who’s been working for a decade-plus, Fitzgerald has drawn notice to this point for a few prominent turns on television. Notable credits in that area include Reacher, The Fall of the House of Usher, and Scream: The TV Series. But it’s in Strange Darling, an ingenious, low-budget thriller from rising filmmaker Jt Mollner, that she’s found what should be a star-making role.
Strikingly shot on 35mm by actor-turned-dp Giovanni Ribisi, Strange Darling seemed to come out of nowhere when it hit theaters last Friday, almost a year after its Fantastic Fest premiere. But within a short amount of time, and without the marketing support of a genre breakout like Longlegs, the film...

Director J.T. Mollner’s new independent horror film “Strange Darling” is ruffling feathers in the movie world. The 35mm film, shot by actor-turned-cinematographer Giovanni Ribisi, presents a mystery that confounds viewers until the final moments. While initially appearing similar to a traditional cat-and-mouse thriller, the film steadily reveals an unconventional truth through nonlinear storytelling.
The movie opens with a woman called “The Lady,” played by Willa Fitzgerald, fleeing a pursuer known as “The Demon,” acted by Kyle Gallner. Their chase through the woods implies a standard plot with the Lady as the imperiled victim. However, across six out-of-order chapters, the narrative subverts expectations. Shockingly, the film exposes that the Lady intentionally lured the Demon to kill him, not the other way around.
Mollner designed the film to mislead the audience’s presumptions. “I wanted to reinvent the idea of a final girl,” the director said, referring to the common trope...

Major spoilers for "Strange Darling" follow.
Director J.T. Mollner's indie horror flick "Strange Darling" has finally opened in U.S. theaters with the wind of good publicity at its back. In a fascinating career pivot, "Strange Darling" was shot on 35mm film by actor Giovanni Ribisi making his debut as a cinematographer. Then, there's the promise of a twist in both the film's marketing and reviews.
"Go in blind" is easy criticism when a film anchors itself with a twist but "Strange Darling" earns that rave. The film is introduced as a story told in six chapters, but those chapters are presented out of order. Mollner banks on his audience's genre and gendered expectations as he assembles the movie's puzzle pieces together before their eyes.
So, what does "Strange Darling" appear to be about? A young woman, "The Lady," (Willa Fitzgerald) is fleeing a man, "The Demon" (Kyle Gallner...

[This story contains major spoilers for Strange Darling.]
Willa Fitzgerald’s former Reacher co-star Alan Ritchson once called her the best actor he’s ever worked with, and that was before he’d seen her critically acclaimed performance as The Lady in Jt Mollner’s Strange Darling. Fitzgerald’s bold turn is being hailed by many critics and viewers as the finest work of her career, and the opportunity was able to present itself because her tenure on the aforementioned Reacher was limited to just one season.
The popular Amazon Prime series takes its cues from Lee Child’s Jack Reacher book series and changes up its cast and setting with each passing season. Fitzgerald’s exit then opened the door to Strange Darling and Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher, but she’s never been fazed or frustrated over the fact that she had to depart a series that wound up being a smash hit.

Your eyes do not deceive you. Giovanni Ribisi — the same Giovanni Ribisi who boasts more than a hundred acting credits since 1985 — photographed and produced J.T. Mollner’s critically acclaimed thriller Strange Darling. The film’s nonlinear narrative is told through six chapters, and it explores the fallout of a calamitous one-night stand involving Kyle Gallner’s serial killer character, The Demon, and Willa Fitzgerald’s circumspect next target who’s credited as The Lady.
Throughout his four decades on film and TV sets, Ribisi has taken a keen interest in the work of his various directors of photography, and he credits a number of those DPs for sharing their know-how, beginning with Dante Spinotti, whom he worked with on Michael Mann’s Public Enemies (2009) and Garry Marshall’s The Other Sister (1999). Writer/director Jt Mollner sought to flip the final girl trope on its head with the film, while also recalling how the non-chronological story came to him "spontaneously", and the unique search to cast Fitzgerald and Gallner. Producer/director of photography Giovanni Ribisi creates a visually stunning film with a unique color palette, recalling the discussions he and Mollner had to make each chapter of the film "feel like its own universe".

Jt Mollner’s 2023 thriller Strange Darling leaves audiences unsettled in the very best of ways. The film follows a man and woman whose chance encounter in a rural Oregon motel takes a deadly turn. Director Mollner keeps viewers on edge by shuffling between chapters that flip expectations at every turn.
Strange Darling was released in 2023. Mollner wrote and directed the film, his second feature after the indie Sundance selection Outlaws and Angels. The thriller stars Kyle Gallner as the enigmatic “Demon” and Willa Fitzgerald as “The Lady.” Gallner is no stranger to dark genre fare like Jennifer’s Body and shows his chops by playing unnervingly unpredictable characters. Fitzgerald proves equally compelling by playing a woman thrust into survival mode.

“Do you have any idea the kind of risks a woman like me takes every time she decides to have a little bit of fun?” So says our female protagonist in writer/director Jt Mollner‘s Strange Darling, a film that dares us to question the roles men and women are expected to play. Are women just prudes who don’t love casual sex? Are men just rapist serial killers waiting for their next mark? What exactly are the boundaries of consent? Strange Darling asks these questions, making for a smarter-than-you’d-expect entry into the cat and mouse thriller genre.

A single line — paraphrased by countless pornos but said verbatim at a key turn in “Strange Darling” — unlocks the heart of Jt Mollner’s razor-sharp psychosexual thriller.
“I’ve never put it There before,” says someone in a scene that shouldn’t be described.
This horror movie is the best kept secret to come out of Fantastic Fest 2023. Until now, almost everything the public has heard about this magnificent slasher deconstruction was an intentional and ingenious misdirect. From its opaque title to its overly slick poster, this blood-soaked Trojan horse is rarely what you would expect. That’s true even and especially when it’s riffing on iconic tropes.
An excruciating chase film, a terrifying puzzle-box whodunit, and a testament to romanticizing even the darkest cinema in glowing 35mm, “Strange Darling” is an outright triumph. That much you can know now, although the following review treads very carefully to avoid spoilers.

Jt Mollner’s romantic thriller Strange Darling is the type of movie that is best experienced knowing as little as possible. In fact, you probably shouldn’t even be reading this review. Take it from us: it’s a good movie — a lean, entertaining 96-minute thriller. Go watch it. But if you need more convincing as to why Strange Darling is one of this year’s finest indie gems, we’ll oblige.
Strange Darling Review
The film follows a man and a woman who get together for what seems like a relatively standard one-night stand, only for it to intersect with a serial killer’s vicious murder spree. From the first shots, you might think this is just another ‘70s thriller/Texas Chain Saw homage/rip-off, but as the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Mollner has crafted a much more exciting experience for audiences.

John Legend, the acclaimed American singer-songwriter and pianist, has enthralled North American audiences with his tour, An Evening With John Legend.
Legend has captivated people with his soulful and R&b-infused sound, which has earned him widespread recognition and numerous accolades. This includes his achievement as the first African American man to win all four major American entertainment awards as of 2018.
Legend’s success, however, extends far beyond his musical prowess. He has become a prominent figure in the realm of social activism and is known to use his platform to advocate for meaningful change. Alongside his partner, model and TV personality Chrissy Teigen, Legend has been unafraid to voice his opinions on political and social issues.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest comedies ever made — and the greatest comedy to feature weaponized Sade records — San Diego Comic-Con is currently hosting an “immersive pop-up experience” that recreates Shaun of the Dead’s Winchester Tavern, the pub where Shaun and his buddies attempt to hole up until the zombie apocalypse blows over.
Judging from photos of the event, the recreation isn’t totally convincing. Sure, there is a familiar bar, a pool table and a limp zombie body hanging out of a jukebox, but it doesn’t really look that much like the pub in the movie. And while they’re selling special Shaun of Dead-themed beer, the faux-pub doesn’t actually have a liquor license, so it can’t be consumed on the premises.
At least we can always visit the real-life Winchester pub, right? Wrong!
