Graduate of Middlebury College in Vermont, class of 1988. Named his production company MiddKid Productions after his alma mater.

He had written spec scripts for Seinfeld (1989), NYPD Blue (1993), and The Larry Sanders Show (1992).

He tried to get a writing job on Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), but was turned down, he later wrote episodes for the spin-off, Angel (1999).
