Set in the 1950s, Campton Manor tells the story of author Teddy Roberts, who receives an unusual invitation to investigate the decades-old mystery surrounding a New Year’s party at the now-abandoned Campton Manor estate.
In 1922, twenty-eight party guests at the manor mysteriously died of heart attacks at the same time with no clear cause. Accompanied by the enthusiastic but cryptic Jack London, Teddy travels to the remote property, hoping to find inspiration by using his unique ability to communicate with the dead.
Upon arrival, Teddy’s ghostly encounters provide unsettling clues about the years-old tragedy. Interacting with spirits stuck forever replaying the fateful night, he aims to learn the truth about what truly happened. But as Teddy delves deeper into Campton Manor’s darkness, he discovers disturbing secrets that seem to implicate those closest to him in the manor’s disturbing past.

Back in 1922 Campton Manor was the scene of an unexplained mass death, twenty-eight guests at a New Year’s party died of heart attacks at the same time. There was no trace of poison, and the case was never solved. The mansion has, needless to say, sat empty ever since.
Decades later, the film seems to be set in the 1950s, Teddy is a detective and a horror novelist. He’s helped in both of these careers by his ability to see, and talk to, the dead. Right now he’s more concerned with Jack. Despite his secretary’s best efforts, Jack keeps turning up in his office talking about Campton Manor, in fact he’s rather insistent that Teddy investigate it.

Capcom's perennially popular survival horror video game franchise "Resident Evil" has been adapted for both film and television over the years, in live-action and animation. The franchise's cinematic debut began in 2002, loosely following the original game's plot of specialists investigating the nefarious pharmaceutical company the Umbrella Corporation. This leads to Umbrella unleashing the T-Virus, a genetically engineered virus that transforms those infected into ravenous, undead zombies.
While the live-action films have handled the video game source material with varying amounts of fidelity and controversy, there has also been a line of CG animated movies set in the same continuity as the games. Successful worldwide, the "Resident Evil" movies have earned their fair share of fans, including devotees of the games and those new to the franchise. With plenty of films to choose from across the original movie series, 2021 reboot, and animated features, here are the best "Resident Evil" films ranked from worst to best.

It’s a familiar problem: students need to make a bit of money in order to get by, but they also need to find the time to actually do their studying. Phoebe (Joelle Farrow) is dismayed when she realises that she has a babysitting job on the night before her most important exam. She doesn’t want to upset the client and risk her reputation, but she really has to get some time alone with her books. Fortunately, she has a boyfriend, pro-wrestler Tom (Shawn Roberts), who can be persuaded to step in. What could possibly go wrong?
Not, it has to be said, what many viewers will be expecting. A lot has changed since the days of Three Men And A Baby and Kindergarten Cop. Most people now comprehend that men are capable of taking on childcare roles, even if they’re muscular and loud in other contexts. Though a little nervous as.

George A. Romero brought the world the first flesh-eating zombies in the 1968 classic Night of the Living Dead, then followed that up with Dawn of the Dead in 1978 and Day of the Dead in 1985. He was hoping to get another Dead movie made in the ’90s, but wasn’t able to get it into production until the next decade – resulting in the 2005 release Land of the Dead (watch it Here). And with the new episode of the Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie?, we’re digging into the story of the making of Romero’s long-awaited fourth Dead movie. Check it out in the embed above!
Written and directed by Romero, Land of the Dead had the following synopsis: In a world where zombies form the majority of the population, the remaining humans build a feudal society away from the undead. Ruthless Paul Kaufman rules and protects this microcosm but enforces painful class distinctions.

The cold open of Tadff’s closing night feature isn’t perfect. The shots feel cheap, the blood is too red, and the edit takes a bit too long to show us the victim’s scream. But what shouts “clunky, cheap, and bloody,” ends up quickly morphing into, “jaw shattering, inexpensive, and bloody.” Here for Blood is a thick hero’s slow walk to victory that passes through horror sub-genres like a jaunt through a neighborhood haunted house.
Tom O’Bannon (Shawn Roberts) is down on his luck, earning a measly twenty bucks for a night of wrestling. So is his girlfriend, Phoebe (Joelle Farrow), but she has a chance if she can balance studying for exams with her three jobs. To help her out, Tom agrees to take on her babysitting job for the night, keeping an eye on plucky young Grace (Maya Misaljevic) in her mother and stepfather’s lustrous home.

Raúl Ruiz’s 1980 short film, Snakes And Ladders, follows H as he begins playing a board game where the world around him gradually becomes the board. H comes upon two men playing ludo on a table and as he joins in, the field of play continuously grows, moving from the tabletop to Paris, Europe, the world, and finally all of existence. H’s movement in the game becomes the work of chance governed by the roll of the dice and as he progresses he gradually comes to realize that he is the die, and that he is the game piece being moved about on the map. The cosmic forces controlling H ultimately reach into the frame, emphatically presenting an author surrogate in the form of a hand. Director Paul W.S. Anderson creates filmic board games similar to Snake And Ladders without explicitly revealing his authorial hand. He leaves the author’s presence unstated,...

Chicago – Guilty pleasures are the order of the day, especially when we are facing daily signs of a real, impending apocalypse. End of the world by zombies remains one of the most popular cataclysmic cinematic events and “Resident Evil” is proof. “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” proves that what should be dead can come back to life, but the real question is if it actually should.

The “Resident Evil” film franchise has been around for over half my life and has proven to be the most successful (read: profitable) film series based on a video game to date. Resident Evil, the most successful videogame to film adaptation of all time, is coming to a close with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Of course, the six Resident Evil films are “loosely” based on the video games, but how much do the two actually cross over? Some of the bigger details are the same; both are set in and around Racoon City and both the films and video games are facing the T-Virus-inflicted zombie apocalypse (which the Umbrella Corportation is responsible for). However, it’s the characters that both separate and unite the film and video game worlds. The films follow the story of Alice (Milla Jovovich) who sets out on a mission to find her identity and wipe out the T-Virus. As she journeys through...

I sit before you a broken, devastated Resident Evil fan after watching Paul W.S. Anderson’s final nail in Alice’s coffin, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. This is coming from a Resident Evil apologist, nonetheless. Someone who enthusiastically purchased the original trilogy on special edition. Someone who’s most swoon-worthy cinematic crush is Sienna Guillory as Jill Valentine. Someone who goes to bat for Kevin Durand as Barry Burton, or refers to all six five previous Resident Evil movies as sweet horror junk food. These sentiments are wholly sincere, but even an Alice devotee like myself can’t recognize The Final Chapter as a fitting means to any franchise “end” (there’s always sequel potential). Abandon hope and pray for a swift finish all you want – welcome to the lowest depths of mainstream horror Hell.

The Red Queen lends a dubious helping hand in a new pair of clips for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter.
Pegged for release late next month, Screen Gems has all hands at the pump in anticipation of the film’s grand debut, and given that The Final Chapter stands as the franchise’s last gasp – providing there’s no spinoff/soft reboot years down the line – there’s a particular sense of urgency driving the marketing campaign to ensure Resident Evil goes out on a high.

It’s here that Alice encounters the Red Queen,...
