Evgeniy Samoylovich Ryss is Russian Soviet writer and playwright, publicist, screenwriter. He spent his childhood in Rostov-on-Don, graduated from the second-stage school in Leningrad. In 1924 (at the age of 16) he entered the Higher State Courses on Art History at the State Institute of Art History. He graduated from three courses. Then he traveled around the country a lot, worked in the newspapers of Vladikavkaz, Baku, Bukhara, Samarkand, and Tashkent. Returning to Leningrad, Evgeniy Ryss was restored at the institute, but did not finish his studies, he worked as a feuilletonist in the Red Evening Newspaper, from the beginning of the 1930s in the Komsomol Satire Theater. Since the mid 30's he also wrote prose. He lived in Leningrad. Collaborated with the magazine "Star". During World War II, Evgeniy Ryss worked as a TASS correspondent. After the war he settled in Moscow.
He first appeared in literature in 1928 as a playwright with the comedy "Twenty-One Dangers" (together with Vsevolod Voyevodin). The main theme of the works of Ryss is about workers, brave and honest people, about the activities of the investigation, prosecutors, courts, defense and the nature of their interaction. The author of historical adventure and detective books. A number of works by the writer were included in the almanacs (collections) of science fiction and adventure literature for children and young people, "The World of Adventures" (1957.1962.1968) and the journal "Seeker". The works of Ryss were repeatedly released, as well as translated in other countries. A number of films were shot according to the scripts of Evgeniy Ryss.
