It was shortly after the theatrical release of Cocaine Bear that The Asylum teased they were working on a “mockbuster” titled Attack of the Meth Gator, which has now been shortened to simply Meth Gator. It’s finished, it’s coming soon, and the trailer has been unleashed today.
Meth Gator will release in a small handful of theaters as well as Digital on August 2.
Watch the retro grindhouse-style trailer for Meth Gator below.
The film will be playing in the following theaters:
Laemmle Glendale – Glendale, CA Hickory Ridge Cinemas – Brunswick, Oh Trylon Cinema – Minneapolis, Mn Film Noir Cinema – Brooklyn, NY Aurora Cineplex – Roswell, Ga

From the creators of Sharknado comes Methgator, a new drug-fueled creature feature with its jaws set on Marvel’s foul-mouthed golden boys of summer, Deadpool & Wolverine. Courtesy of The Asylum, we’re pleased to share the exclusive first look at the brand-new Comic-Con poster for Methgator, which features the narcotic-driven reptile chowing down on Deadpool and Wolverine. I don’t know if they can quip their way out of this one.
In the vein of Elizabeth Banks’ Cocaine Bear, the official synopsis reads: “In a 2019 news bulletin, police warned residents to refrain from flushing methamphetamine down the toilet to prevent ‘meth-gators.’ Down in Sweet Water Point, Florida, they didn’t listen.” They never do. The film stars Robbie Rist (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), Laronn Marzett (Birdie), Vanessa Tamayo (Monster Grizzly), and the one and only Patrick Labyorteaux, who played one of my favourite characters on Little House on the Prairie,...

Attack of the Meth Gator lets you know what you’re in for right from the start as cops raid a Florida meth lab only to have its operators make a run for it. As Shane wades across the swamp, he drops a bag of meth. That’s when we see a giant gator’s snout twitch as if it’s smelling something. Then it goes straight for the meth, then goes for Shane, and one of the cops in a drug-induced frenzy.
In response, Mayor Jensen (Nick Wilson) hires Skylar and Twain (Tristen Amason) to take care of the gator discreetly, and before the tourists start arriving for the Memorial Day Weekend. Needless to say, they quickly become gator chow instead. Sheriff Williams...

2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the first Sharknado, and so far celebrations have included a screening on legendary movie host Joe Bob Briggs’ Shudder series The Last Drive-In and an all-day Sharknado franchise marathon on Syfy. If that wasn’t enough, The Asylum has now announced that they’ll be giving the movie a two-day theatrical re-release on August 15th and 16th! A new, Barbie-inspired poster has been created to promote this theatrical re-release, and you can check it out at the bottom of this article. The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive first look at the poster.
Sharknado has been “fully remastered with hundreds of new special effects” for this event. The trailer for the re-release, which you can watch in the embed above, promises this version of the movie will deliver new kills, new thrills, more sharks, and more ‘nado.

We asked for the return of short, stupid movies, and The Asylum answered. In light of Elizabeth Banks’ insane horror comedy Cocaine Bear, parody film distributor The Asylum has announced a follow-up film of sorts called Attack of the Meth Gator.
“Hold our bear… I mean, beer,” The Asylum tweeted, attaching a potential poster for the film. “Coming for your life this summer.”
Loosely based on a 2019 news article about police warning residents in Flordia to refrain from flushing methamphetamine down their toilets, the film stars Robbie Rist (Oliver from The Brady Bunch) and Patrick Labyorteaux (Little House on the Prairie). The film is set for release this summer.
Not much else is known about Attack of the Meth Gator, but if it’s to follow Cocaine Bear, you can expect an alligator to ingest a lot of meth and then kill people, which sounds pretty fun. The company assured...

While I don't hate any of the "Tmnt" movies (not even the confused patchwork that is the Michael Bay-produced 2014 big screen reboot), director Steve Barron's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" is the only one I would venture so far as to call a genuinely good film. Unlike the other "Tmnt" movies to date, Barron's 1990 flick serves up plenty of silly Turtle-related hijinks while also being serious and even moving when it needs to be, creating a vision of New York City that feels lived-in and real. That's no minor achievement, either, given this version of NYC is swarming with masked ninjas, mutated reptiles, and a giant talking rat voiced by original Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash.
Equally good is the voice work for the Turtles themselves in the film. Brian Tochi, who evolved into a prolific voice actor starting in the '90s, lends his vocals to Leonardo, the...

It’s not easy to parse the idiosyncratic minds of the Hollywood Foreign Press, a motley crew of 90 veteran entertainment media who chum up with publicists and junketing stars throughout the year as they report on movies and TV for their outlets in 55 countries. Many of these folks have been covering the usual suspects for so long, they feel like friends.
And that’s one reason why they make such different choices from other critics’ groups. The relatively senior HFPA’s taste runs the gamut from sophisticated (“Moonlight”) to mainstream (“The Martian”). They do like celebrities to come to the glitzy Golden Globes Awards show on January 7 (Daniel Day-Lewis, Margot Robbie, Jessica Chastain, Matt Damon, and Jennifer Lawrence come to mind), which is by far the most fun party night of the year in Hollywood. So that’s another factor.

Believe it or not, notorious figure skater Tonya Harding has a connection to Batman — and it is actually pretty special.

Whether it’s David Ayer for Suicide Squad or Zack Snyder for any movie except Man of Steel, Warner Brothers has all-too-often altered the finished product significantly in the name of making the film more marketable. It’s not in the name of creative differences or anything constructive, but for the purpose of having the movie be more audience-friendly and popular. And now, they’ve done the same with Justice League.
WB has made the claim that they’re “creator-friendly” when it comes to these pics, but they’ve yet to choose what the director envisions over what critics would complain about. Zack Snyder may have seen Batman V Superman as a well thought-out deconstruction of Batman and Superman as characters, but WB saw it as a movie that was 30 minutes too long and a less-marketable film than what their competitors were offering.

Margot Robbie says that there's still another Harley Quinn solo film still in the works...
Right then, let's try and keep up with all of the different Harley Quinn projects first. Ready? Suicide Squad 2 is happening, which is fine because Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn was great. But it won't be directed by David Ayer, because he has moved on to Gotham City Sirens, which will also feature Margot Robbie as Harley. But then there's also an untitled Joker and Harley Quinn movie (not to be confused with the solo Joker origins movie), which will, you guessed it, star Margot Robbie.
Now, in a new interview with MTV, Robbie says that there is yet another Harley Quinn movie in the works. The only clue to this is that she says she has been working on it for two years. So what could this be?

Harley Quinn is ready for her close-up.
The iconic Batman villain, regularly seen catering to the Joker’s every whim, is finally getting her own solo animated series, our sister site Deadline reports. The half-hour action-comedy Harley Quinn, which will feature appearances by some of Harley’s villain friends (and frenemies), has received a 26-episode order and will debut on the still-untitled DC streaming service.

The project hails from Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, the executive producers of NBC’s ill-fated Powerless, and Warner Bros. Animation’s Dean Lorey.

While some have been critical of the seemingly scattered approach to the commissioning of new projects taken by the DC Extended Universe so far, it’s certainly the case that this different method of universe building has generated some potentially interesting plans. One of those would seem to be Harley Quinn vs. The Joker, which now has directing duo (and frequent Margot Robbie collaborators) Glenn Ficarra and John Requa attached.
Billed as a “criminal love story” centred on the iconic comic book pair, the film will focus on their relationship with each other, rather than viewing these characters through the lens of their relationship to Batman. Speaking to Female First UK about her new movie, I, Tonya, Margot Robbie explained her hope for how the spinoff film will see the love story end.
“Their love story has to end in flames! It has to, it just wouldn’t be right.

Remember that Joker and Harley Quinn movie we told you about not long ago? Well, the untitled film project is moving forward with two directors. Warner Bros. has hired Glenn Ficarra and John Requa to direct the film, which will see Jared Leto and Margot Robbie reprise their roles as The Joker and Harley Quinn.
Ficarra and Requa direct and executive produce the hit NBC drama series This is Us. They have also wrote and directed the 2011 film Crazy, Stupid, Love. They've also previous;y worked with Robbie on the films Focus and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. I've enjoyed most of their work, but this is very different from anything they've done before. Regardless, I'm still sure they will be able to pull it off.

Like many other people, Alissa Parker wanted answers in the wake of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
Mostly, she wanted to know what could possess 20-year-old Adam Lanza to drive to the Newtown, Connecticut, school on Dec. 14, 2012, and fatally shoot six adults and 20 first graders — including Parker’s six-year-old daughter, Emily.
Weeks after the shooting, she sought to meet the one person she thought might hold the answer to that question: the gunman’s father, Peter Lanza.

Despite the mostly negative reaction to Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie managed to emerge unscathed. In fact, she's arguably more popular than ever before, hence why Warner Bros. is now moving forward with Gotham City Sirens. Directed by David Ayer, the movie is expected to team the character up with Catwoman and Poison Ivy, though we may also see other members of the Birds of Prey in some form. However, it will be Harley who serves as the lead here. How her appearance will differ remains to be seen, but she'll probably get a new costume (and hopefully fewer tattoos if we're really lucky). Thanks to DC Films Universe photographer Clay Enos (via Batman-News), we have a new look at Robbie suited up as Harley in Suicide Squad. Needless to say, this will make a great wallpaper on your phone...

It was recently announced that Margot Robbie will reprise the role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad director David Ayer’s Gotham City Sirens. Miles Morales
While Peter Parker's notched up three different franchises in the last two decades, the successor of his Spider-Man mantle has yet to appear in live-action. Let's hope that changes soon.
Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan)
Kamala Khan Aka Ms. Marvel has gained legions of fans since she was created as the company's first Muslim superhero in 2014. A light-hearted ABC TV series would be perfect for the character, though we imagine it won't be happening in the near future.

Okay, I’m sold on this Ghost Rider thing. Like many of you when I first heard there would be a major focus on the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider on Agents Of Shield season 4, I thought, “Man, I hope Marvel doesn’t sacrifice too much story time on Ghost Rider’s origins.” I was excited to see the character realised on TV in the mighty Marvel manner, but I didn’t want to see story time taken away from Daisy, Fitz, Simmons, May, and Mack.

On October 17th, you’re going to get a chance to watch something that’s actually pretty brilliant, undeniably fascinating, when Red Bull TV brings you The Horn.
Providing an up close and personal look at those involved in one of the most unbelievable jobs on the planet, The Horn brings you the team of Air Zermatt, the air rescue team in charge of The Matterhorn and the surrounding area. The trailer will give you a glimpse of what’s coming, and you’ll get to hear one of the crew members tell you that they manage some 70+ rescues per year.
But, this isn’t just a standard documentary effort that takes you along for the ride during actual rescues (though I don’t know what “standard” might mean there anyway), because The Horn also gives you a look at the team, and lets you see these heroes “behind the scenes.

The Harley Quinn standalone movie is happening - and Margot Robbie will be working both in front of and behind the camera on it...
Even those who weren’t keen on this summer’s Suicide Squad movie have generally been praising Margot Robbie’s performance as Harley Quinn in the film as one of its highlights. Robbie debuted the much-loved Batman nemesis on the big screen, and in the lead up to Suicide Squad’s release, there was chatter about a spin-off movie for the character.
And that chatter has proven correct. Warner Bros is indeed developing a standalone Harley Quinn movie. What’s more, the studio has entered into a development deal with Margot Robbie’s company, LuckyChap Entertainment, and as such, she’s going to be executive producing the Harley Quinn film, as well as an adaptation of Dean N Jensen’s Queen Of The Air,...

Although it’s been a financial triumph, Suicide Squad has had its share of criticism and bad reviews. Much of the negativity has been aimed at Harley Quinn. While most people like Margot Robbie’s performance, there was a backlash on Twitter, Tumbler and other sites because Harley was seen as being too anti-feminist.
Margot Robbie unquestionably stole the Suicide Squad film as the uber-crazy Harley Quinn. Much of the marketing for the film revolved around her and there are tentative plans for a solo film about the Joker’s baseball bat-wielding main squeeze. However, pro-feminist writers on sites like ‘Buzzfeed’ have a different view on the buxom blonde bad girl. Their two main complaints are that she is “too victimized” and “too sexualized”. Are these valid criticisms, or is this just a failure to understand the character? Let’s look at the two complaints to see if they are justifiable.

Tethered with a production budget of around $175 million – and the staggering weight of expectations, but more on that later – it’s hardly surprising that Suicide Squad came packing a vast array of effects shots when David Ayer’s villainous offshoot landed in theaters at the beginning of the month.
If anything, it’s an eye-opening reminder that tentpole movies in the vein of Suicide Squad enlist hundreds of crew members to bring the underlying vision to life. Hoping to cast some light on that painstaking process, Moving Picture Company recently took to Facebook to offer up a range of before and after shots for David Ayer’s divisive blockbuster, and the results are truly brilliant.

Margot Robbie, Ben Affleck, and Darren Criss took in a showing of J.K. Rowling and Jack Thorne's Harry Potter and the Cursed Child recently in what became a pop culture party on a London stage. From these images posted on the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Facebook page, it looks like Affleck took his daughter Violet to see the hot-ticket performance. We already knew Robbie was a huge Harry Potter nerd so I imagine this event was also very special for her. So that's Batman and Harley Quinn meeting Harry Potter (and family) but what happens when Potter meets Potter? Also joining them for the show was Glee actor Criss which must have been surreal indeed. Criss played Harry Potter in StarKid Production's A Very Potter Musical parody many years ago. Here that is if you haven't seen it.

With The Flash season 2 out now on DVD and Blu-ray, we chat to Danielle Panabaker aka Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost...
Contains spoilers for The Flash season 2.
I met with Danielle Panabaker in a swanky London hotel to talk about her work as Caitlin Snow in The Flash. This was back in June. Season 2 had finished on TV not long before, and (so everyone told me) scripts for season 3 hadn’t been circulated yet. So there wasn’t much ‘what’s happening next?’ chat to be had.
We still had a good chat, though. Here’s the transcript...
You got to act opposite yourself rather a lot this year. What was that experience like? How do you shoot that?
Exciting. Challenging. You know, logistically... basically what we would do is, for the first half of the day I would do that day’s scenes as Caitlin Snow, and...

As movies based on comics continue to take over the world, those holding the purse strings obviously to capitalize as quickly and completely as possible. This means that we’re going to get some “expansion” titles (like Guardians of the Galaxy) that feature characters that aren’t as well known to the masses.
This leads to a lot of problems when it comes to working through the plot and characters, and Suicide Squad gets almost every decision wrong.
The film builds its own theory at you, while trying to simultaneously exist as that theory, with elusive, government pawn manipulator Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) sharing notes on the criminals she wants to have on hand in case the next Superman isn’t so friendly. This plays out as a 15-minute highlight reel that gives us our characters.

I usually try to avoid reading reviews of movies before I go see them but the explosion of negativity that came out as soon as the embargo dropped last week made it utterly impossible to see Suicide Squad completely untainted. Combined with some scheduling snafus that kept me from seeing the film until Monday morning I walked into the theater with a strong preconception that this was going to be a bad movie. And it was— Suicide Squad is a bad movie, but it isn’t the end of western cinema, it isn’t the worst superhero movie ever made, it isn’t even the worst superhero movie released this year from Warner Bros that Ben Affleck is in. At some points it’s even endearingly bad, the kind of movie that could end up with a cult following. I doubt it will because of all the times it’s...

Many critics may not be too keen on what Suicide Squad had to over this past weekend, but it seems like most folks enjoyed a lot of the character interactions in the film, even if the plot fell woefully short. Of course, one of the biggest draws to this film was the feature film introduction of one Harley Quinn, the psychotic villainous who had her start in Batman: The Animated Series back in the 1990s as the Joker's main squeeze.
The character has since taken her place as a beloved character in pop culture -- one that has been raised to even greater cultural awareness thanks to the Batman: Arkham games. Needless to say, there was a lot of pressure for Robbie going into it, and she was well aware of that pressure going into it. Margot Robbie's take on Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad was the breakout, crowd-pleasing success fans were hoping since the moment she was cast in the role, and even the people who didn't particularly like the movie think that she was one of the best parts about it. She definitely has that elusive X factor that Hollywood is always looking for, and director David Ayer's camera loves her in the movie.
As you might have expected, the film's cast signed a multi-picture contract with Warner Bros., meaning that sequels are in development (even after the movie's largely disappointing reviews). But while most actors are asked about starring in a sequel to a movie they're in, they answer with a boilerplate "sure, I'm keeping my options open" kind of response, Robbie seems like she's hooked on Harley in a big way. When ComicBook asked her how long she hoped to play the character,...

I’ve been back from my Oregon vacation for a couple of weeks now, and though the getaway was a good and necessary one, I’m still in the process of mentally unpacking from a week and a half of relaxing and thinking mostly only about things I wanted to think about. (I also discovered a blackberry cider brewed in the region, the source of a specific sort of relaxation that I’m still finding myself pining for.) It hasn’t helped that our time off and immediate time back coincided with the bombast and general insanity of the Republic National Convention, followed immediately by the disarray and sense of restored hope that bookended the Democrats’ week-long party. The extremity of emotions engendered by those two events, coupled with a profoundly unsettling worry over the base level of our current political discourse and where it may lead this country, hasn...

It’s an amazing feat of sorcery that only the best of the worst Hollywood metahumans can pull off: to entertain you for two hours while keeping you completely bored and disinterested. Suicide Squad, the much-talked about latest entry into the DC Comics movie universe, manages to that in spades. Or an orgy of bullets if you prefer.
The characters and the plotline need no introduction here, I’m sure. Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) and Deadshot (Will Smith), are freed by the hapless U.S. Government (led by the anything but hapless Amanda Waller), to deal with increasing superhuman terrorist threats. They are joined by a band of misunderstood misfits with properly comedic names—El Diablo, Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, Katana, etc. –to form the titular group.
Never mind that the danger that imperils the world, an evil sorcerer known as Enchantress, was of the moronic Government’s own unleashing.

Arriving a mere five months after Batman v Superman, a DC Comics epic as vaultingly joylss as a memorial chapel in Valhalla, Suicide Squad at least has some rumbling, crunchy kick - and, amid a sprawling, grungy cast, a terrific Margot Robbie. The highly-anticipated and amped-up action flick “Suicide Squad” will be arriving in theaters this Friday, August 5. The Warner Bros. and DC Comics film follows a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains who are recruited for a top-secret mission. Starring Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie and a slew of other talented actors, the first reviews are really in and it’s not looking too good for the David Ayer-directed flick.
IndieWire’s David Ehrlich gave the film a D+, writing in his review that “these heroes may be bad, but their movie is even worse.” He states, “‘Suicide Squad’ never has the courage of its convictions — it doesn’t own anything. At best, Ayer rents some pre-existing pop iconography and charges us $15 to watch him take it around the block for a spin. Forget the ‘Worst. Heroes. Ever.’ These guys don’t even know how to be bad.”

Suicide Squad comes at a weird time for the DC Movieverse. This spring’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was viewed by its bankrollers as a total slam-dunk, a blockbuster that would bring two of the most famous and enduring superheroes in comic-book history together on screen for the nerd equivalent of the Thrilla in Manila. But then, audiences saw the film, and once solid ground for WB and DC started to feel a whole lot shakier. Simply put, Batman V Superman made money, but it wasn’t the killer springboard into a Justice League team-up pic that the studio was hoping for, and it wasn’t even the triumphant crowdpleaser execs had taken it for granted to be.
And so it is that all eyes have turned to Suicide Squad, once a somewhat peripheral, lightweight entry in this massive planned universe (after all, how many general moviegoers are...

While David Ayer may have been fairly liberal in making changes to Harley Quinn's physical look in Suicide Squad, there's no denying that her personality, and more importantly, her voice, seem like they've come right off the page. In an interview with USA Today, actress Margot Robbie described how she perfected Harley's iconic voice. Harley Quinn made her debut in 1992's Batman: The Animated Series, voiced by Arleen Sorkin, establishing the character's high-pitched, Brooklyn style accent. Robbie admitted to using Sorkin's performance as her starting point, but stopped short of keeping it in every scene. "She’s got a very high-pitched voice, which for the lighthearted stuff, the crazy stuff, works really well [in Suicide Squad], " she said. "But when it’s a pretty raw emotional scene, you lose the gravity when you’re speaking in such a high voice." For the more grounded, dramatic scenes, Robbie looked to Lorraine Bracco, who...

Suicide Squad doesn't arrive for another five whole days, but it's a pretty safe bet that Margot Robbie's fan-favorite Harley Quinn has already stolen the show. Last year, we saw Tom Cruise hold his breath for over six minutes in Chris McQuarrie's critically acclaimed Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, and this year, we have Suicide Squad star Margot Robbie nearly one-upping him by learning how to hold her breath for five long minutes for a major underwater scene in the upcoming David Ayer-directed feature. She doesn't divulge where the sequence takes place, but if we had to wager a guess, it's likely the scene, which we've seen teased in the trailers, where Batman rescues her after the Joker crashes his Infinity G35 into a river, although she does mention that she had to fight underwater, so it could take place in the film's third act. Robbie shared the...
