Her life changed during the summer of 1969, when as a teenage fan, she sneaked into the hotel suite where John Lennon and Yoko Ono were doing their 'Bed Peace' protest. Lennon took an instant liking to Gail and a friendship was formed. The relationship remained entirely innocent, as Lennon gave her advice on life and a career, before returning her to her mum (in another part of the hotel) at mum's prescribed time. He left her with a phone number she could always ring if she was in trouble.
