Frankie Ray was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. After growing up in a variety
of areas Colville/Spokane, WA. Oakland/Vallejo, CA, he joined the U.S. Army in 1979 out of Bend Oregon and spent three years in Germany. There he learned to play guitar. Finishing up his three years of service, he joined a band in Tacoma, WA, called Lamoor.
Without income from the band, he started teaching Pro Ballroom and Latin Dancing at Fred Astaire Dance studio in Tacoma, WA. Teaching and honing his skill for over 10 years at various studios around the country, he finished his ballroom dancing career at Arthur Murray's in Beverly Hills.
After finishing a Japan tour as the lead dancer/singer in the production of "Hello America Hello," Frankie found himself homeless. He lived under the bank in Century City next to where the old Hy's restaurant became the Century Club. While teaching Salsa at Hy's, he heard of a film in rehearsal and crashed the rehearsals and booked his first job as a dancer in the Film "Mambo Kings". Frankie Ray started his film career homeless, broke and damn near starving, living on the dirt under the bank in Century City.
On a recommendation of a friend, Cheryl Jannake, Frankie Ray crashed and booked his first speaking role in a film called "Prison Planet," produced by 21st-century Films and Directed by Armand Gazarian. Mr. Gazarian hired him for his next two films.
Frankie Ray has a golden, very resonant, broadcast-quality voice. He is many things: Pro Dancer, Musician, Singer, Rapper, Dj/karaoke host, Mc, Stuntman, and Actor.
He maintains an athletic body that could easily belong to a 35-year-old. He resides in Malibu, CA. Frankie loves the ocean and is a surfer, rescue scuba diver, avid kayaker, fisherman, cliff climber, and general water nut.
Some people act, however few bring to the artistic table more than Frankie Ray. Having spent years developing a huge list of skills to apply to his craft, he is known industry-wide by casting to always deliver and always commits 100% to his characters. He believes that a character actor should dress for the audition and he maintains a Huge Wardrobe of just about every conceivable kind of character he may be called in for.
Frankie Ray has been blessed to work with the likes of Michael Jackson, Marlon Brando, Conrad Hall, David Fincher, Vilmos Zigmond, Deon Bebe the list is deep. He is very loyal still with his first agent Hugh Loen at Coast to Coast talent group for over 25 years. His commercial list is heavy and includes Oscar-winning cinematographers and the world's best commercial directors. After 25 years as a SAG Actor, he still does student films and loves to do shorts-believing in lending his skills and giving back to those who are just starting out.
After 23 years of being Sober, Frankie is ready to handle anything that comes his way. With over 50 national commercials numerous features and TV credit's, he has had the good fortune to be rehired by many he has worked with. Fanatical about character research and building his performances is always compelling Frankie. He started at the bottom in many ways in life. He is dependable, dedicated, cool-headed and still refuses therapy. He is colorful in life. At work, he shows up, suits up and shuts up. Frankie Ray is a True Professional.
