V.Doraswamy Raju (VDR) is the founder of VMC1 Industries Pvt. Ltd. He is one of
the most successful Telugu film producer, distributor and exhibitor in Andhra
Pradesh. He has produced block buster and critically acclaimed films that have
won many awards in Telugu Film Industry.
V D R was President Film Chamber for two terms from 1993-1995. V.Doraswamy Raju
also served as a TTD Board member in TTD Devasthanam,Tirumala. He was MLA from
Nagari Constituency (TDP) during 1994-1999 year under Chandrababu naidu as Chief
minister of Andhra Pradesh.
In 1997, Doraswamy released another blockbuster under the title "Annamaya", a
devotional biography based on the 15th century composer Annamacharya. The film
received critical acclaim and achieved National Film Awards in two categories,
Filmfare Awards in three and Nandi Awards in eight. It premiered in the
mainstream category of the International Film Festival of India in 1998.
Doraswamy specifically received Filmfare Best Film Award under Telugu category
and Nandi Award for Best Film Award under Gold category.
In 2003, he released " Simhadri" which again received critical acclaim and earned
INR 550 million at the box office, which is equivalent to INR 1.5 billion today,
and screened for 200 days at 25 centres. Dorswamy sold distribution rights for
INR 15.5 crores while the budget of the movie was only INR 5.5 crores. After that
Doraswamy produced "Kochem Touchlo Vunte Cheputanu" in 2004, " Vengamamba" in
2009, Kannada film "Uyyaale" in 2009, " Sri Vasavi Vaibhavam" 2012, and " Vijeta"
in 2016.
