After winning a punishing title defence on points, world middleweight boxing champion Matty Burton (Paddy Considine) collapses. The journey towards regaining his speech, movement and memory will be the toughest fight he’ll ever face, and the prize could not be greater, for his relationship with his wife Emma (Jodie Whittaker) and baby daughter Mia are on the line…
Journeyman is the second feature from famed British actor Paddy Considine, after his highly acclaimed dark brooding character piece in the ever so devastating Tyrannosaur, release six years ago. Considine’s influences are clear, visually he takes much from director Jim Sheridan, aesthetically he implores a significant bout of kitchen sink-esque drama from Ken Loach, but most notably he has absorbed the detrimental thematic role of unsuspecting torturous life that has been crafted in the bleak,...

"When I come back through that door, I'm still going to be champion of the world." This trailer is worth a watch. Studiocanal UK has unveiled the first UK trailer for Journeyman, the new film written & directed by English actor Paddy Considine (he last directed the acclaimed Tyrannosaur in 2011). Journeyman tells the story of a world champion boxer named Matty Burton, also played by Paddy Considine, who struggles with life after a head injury that leaves him almost completely debilitated. The cast includes Jodie Whittaker as his wife, along with Paul Popplewell, Tony Pitts, and Anthony Welsh and others. This premiered at the London Film Festival, where I first saw it and wrote a glowing review of the film. As you can see with this trailer, it's not so much about boxing as it is about the struggle of mental illness. See below. Here's the first official UK trailer (+ poster) for Paddy Considine's Journeyman,...

Paddy Considine and Jodie Whittaker star in Journeyman. Here's the first trailer...
This looks really, really good. Paddy Considine has directed one film thus far, the superb Tyrannosaur. For his second, Journeyman, he’s telling the story of a boxer who collapses after a particularly bruising fight, and consequently has to fight to regain his speech, his relationships, and his life.
Considine stars in the film too, alongside Jodie Whittaker, Anthony Welsh, Tony Pitts and Paul Popplewell. And the first trailer and official synopsis have been released.

We’ve been waiting a while for Paddy Considine to get back behind the camera following his excellent and underrated BAFTA-Award winning “Tyrannosaur.” Well, the time has finally arrived as he’s pulling off triple duty writing, directing, and starring in “Journeyman.”
Also featuring Jodie Whittaker (“One Day”), Faraz Ayub (“Honor”), Tony Pitts (“War Horse”) and Paul Popplewell (“’71”), beneath the boxing drama surface of the movie lies the story of a pugilist who has to rebuild his entire life after suffering a traumatic brain injury in the ring.

Cornerstone Films announced this week that multi-talented writer, director, and actor Paddy Considine has found his next filmmaking gig, the boxing drama “Journeyman.” Considine directed the excellent and underrated BAFTA-Award winning “Tyrannosaur,” and his second feature continues his collaboration with producing partner Diarmid Scrimshaw of Inflammable Films. Currently in pre-production and shooting in early March, Considine wrote the screenplay, will direct it and will also star. Jodie Whittaker (“One Day”), Faraz Ayub (“Honor”), Tony Pitts (“War Horse”) and Paul Popplewell (“’71”) will form the main members of the supporting cast. Here’s the official synopsis: Journeyman is a powerful and beautiful story about loss and, ultimately, triumph. It's about our identity, and how in life we sometimes have to dig deep into our soul to discover who we really are. Matty Burton is the middleweight boxing champion of the world. Now, coming towards the end of his career,...

Coming off her well-deserved Oscar nomination for 45 Years, Charlotte Rampling has found a new project. Screen Daily reports that she’ll be leading an adaptation of Jane Austen‘s Sanditon, the first time it will come to the screen. Directed by Jim O’Hanlon and scripted by Simon Reade, it follows a summer at a sea bathing resort in which society can be seen at play. Production is set to kick off this summer for a likely 2017.
We’ve been patiently waiting for Paddy Considine (Hot Fuzz, Macbeth) to follow up his impressive directorial debut Tyrannosaur with another feature and now it looks like he’s finally settled on one. THR reports he’ll direct and write Journeyman, a boxing drama starring himself as a world middleweight boxing champion who takes on one last fight and succumbs to a coma, but is then awakened and must deal with the repercussions.

Chicago – She first finds him hiding behind a rack of clothes in her small charity shop. He’s the sort of a battered soul that her Christian instincts naturally desire to protect. The way he crouches on the floor and snarls at her causes him to resemble a threatening animal, but the calming prayer that she recites quickly reduces him to tears. Even before their eyes have had the chance to meet, a vital connection has been made between the two strangers.
Rating: 4.5/5.0
This is an early scene from the Sundance darling, “Tyrannosaur,” a brutally raw but deeply moving drama that marks the directorial debut of chameleon-esque character actor Paddy Considine. He appears to have followed in the footsteps of his fellow countryman, Tim Roth, whose first (and only) feature, 1999’s “The War Zone,” was uncompromisingly grim but also exhilaratingly well acted. It’s clear that both Roth and Considine...

Tyrannosaur Trailer. Paddy Considine‘s Tyrannosaur (2011) movie trailer stars Peter Mullan, Olivia Colman, Eddie Marsan, Paul Popplewell, and Ned Dennehy. Tyrannosaur‘s plot synopsis: “Tyrannosaur is the story of Joseph (Peter Mullan), a man plagued by violence and a rage that is driving him to self-destruction. As Joseph’s life spirals into turmoil a chance of redemption appears in the form of Hannah (Olivia Colman), a Christian charity shop worker. Their relationship develops to reveal that Hannah is hiding a secret of her own with devastating consequences for both of them.”
I’m guessing Joseph channels his agressive qualities towards the person that is making Hannah’s life a living hell, a person very much like himself.
Tyrannosaur also stars Samuel Bottomley and Sian Breckin.
