Wham! released “Last Christmas” 40 years ago. The classic holiday song has become standard listening during the joyful season, but the meaning behind it is anything but happy.
What is ‘Last Christmas’ about? Andrew Ridgeley said it’s about ‘betrayed love’
In an interview with Smooth Radio, Wham! co-founder Andrew Ridgeley recalled the moment his best friend George Michael wrote “Last Christmas.” He called it a song of “betrayed love.”
Ridgeley explained that the song was written when he and Michael visited Michael’s parents. “We’d had a bite to eat and were sitting together relaxing with the television on in the background when, almost unnoticed, George disappeared upstairs for an hour or so. When he came back down, such was his excitement, it was as if he had discovered gold which, in a sense, he had.”

Women in entertainment are galvanized heading into 2025, the CEO of Women in Film and TV (Wftv) has said.
Ahead of the organization’s biggest night of the year on Friday at the Wftv Awards, Katie Bailiff sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about what’s being celebrated — and what’s still to be done — as they get ready to mark another year of supporting women in U.K. media.
“I think we’ve come a really long way,” Bailiff said, referencing the comments of U.K. MasterChef co-host Gregg Wallace, who attributed his on-set misconduct allegations to comments from “a handful of middle-class women of a certain age” (Wallace later apologized after sparking fury, but has denied the claims made against him).
“All you have to do is look at this past week, the phrase that’s become quite iconic already: ‘middle-class women of a certain age,'” Bailiff said.

Updated with latest: Wednesday Season 2 has officially wrapped production. Before this latest bit of news, the latest update on the sophomore season set at Nevermore Academy involved the guest appearance of a certain Mother Monster.
After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered, eventually becoming the most-watched original series ever on the streamer ever with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things‘ Season 4, Dahmer and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.
Season 1 ending up scoring 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, becoming just the third Latina to ever be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

That's not all the good news about Wednesday season 2, either!

Horror fans, rejoice! We have some good news to share about the hit horror series Wednesday. Production on the highly anticipated second season is officially in the can, meaning we're even closer to the show returning to our screens. On top of that, Netflix decided to release a first-look image of the new season featuring Jenna Ortega back as the iconic Wednesday Addams. You can check out the photo above.
In the new image from Wednesday season 2, Wednesday seems to be standing in some sort of cemetery, and as usual, she doesn't seem the happiest if her arms crossed and slight frown means anything. While plot details surrounding the second season are being kept secret, it's obvious that Wednesday is going to find herself in another tricky situation like last season.
In season 1, Wednesday became entangled in a series of supernatural mysteries while attending her parents' old school, Nevermore Academy.

Production on Netflix’s Wednesday has recently concluded. And even though fans will have to wait until next year to binge new episodes, a new photo of Jenna Ortega as the titular teen was released below.
While not much is known about the plot for Season 2, star Catherine Zeta-Jones, who plays Morticia Addams, recently teased their sophomore turn will “be bigger and more twisted than you could ever imagine.” Ortega has previously said the new episodes will lean more into horror, unlike the teen romance storyline focus from the show’s freshman season.
A week ago, Zeta-Jones celebrated her return home by cuddling her dog Taylor via Instagram after months of production working on the Tim Burton series.

Joker 2 star Lady Gaga has reportedly joined the already-impressive cast actors confirmed for Netflix show’s second season of Wednesday.

Paws up, Little Monsters — Lady Gaga is about to take a walk on the creepy, kooky, mysterious, and indeed spooky side! Between the recent releases of both DC supervillain sequel Joker: Folie À Deux and accompanying album Harlequin, and the imminent drop of her seventh studio album this coming February, Gaga could've been forgiven for taking a brief sabbatical from the day job(s) to recharge her batteries. Instead, per Entertainment Weekly's reporting, the multi-hyphenate artist is readying a return to the small screen with a role in Season 2 of Netflix's YA Gothic mystery series Wednesday.
Whilst details of Gaga's role in the upcoming second season of the Addams Family spin-off show remain under wraps for the time being, Variety's sources suggest that her role will be more likely a cameo than a full-blown recurring thing — try as Netflix's production team may have to work out a bigger...

Back in September, Netflix offered a sneak peek into the forthcoming second season of Wednesday. The behind-the-scenes video showed only slivers of glimpses into the show’s wicked return — and for good reason. Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular role, warned: “If we showed you any more, your eyes would bleed.” Fittingly, Wednesday has recruited a special guest with a long history of startling on-screen appearances: Mother Monster herself, Lady Gaga.
According to Variety, the musician and actress will make a cameo appearance when the series makes its awaited return.

Big news for Wednesday fans! The highly anticipated second season just got even more exciting with the new cast addition of none other than Lady Gaga, who will be bringing star power and intrigue to the hit series. We learned of this good news from Entertainment Weekly.
Unfortunately, who the Golden Globe Award-winning actress will be playing in the second season is unknown at the moment, but EW reports that she's currently filming with the rest of the cast and crew in Europe. Production took place in Romania for season 1 but has moved to Ireland for season 2. While it's not exactly clear when filming will wrap up, there have been rumors that they'll stop shooting sometime in November. After finishing up post-production, the new episodes will then be released on Netflix in 2025.

According to a report from Entertainment Weekly, Lady Gaga has reportedly joined the cast of Wednesday season 2 in an as-yet unannounced role. While the Golden Globe-winning actress' exact role hasn't been confirmed, it's expected to be a smaller cameo part given season 2 has been filming since May 2024 and wraps at the end of November.
As Entertainment Weekly reports, Gaga's currently filming her scenes in Europe, where season 2 has been hard at work filming in Ireland. Prior to the outlet's announcement on Nov. 13 of Gaga's involvement in Wednesday season 2, neither Netflix nor the pop icon herself had teased or revealed that she had been cast. Singer/songwriter Lady Gaga didn’t have anything to do with the first season of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday, but when video clips of Jenna Ortega’s “Goo Goo Muck” dance scene went viral, many fans replaced The Cramps’ song “Goo Goo Muck” with a sped-up version of Lady Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary.” So Wednesday and Lady Gaga have been connected for a while now – and that connection is going to be deepened with the now-in-production season 2, as Deadline reports that Lady Gaga has been added to the cast of the show! We had a feeling that this announcement was coming after star Aurora Perrineau shared and then deleted a cryptic social media post late last night, and Variety has now confirmed that Netflix has cancelled Kaos after a single season.
The black comedy drama, which stars Jeff Goldblum as the all-powerful King of the Gods, Zeus, only premiered on the streamer in late August. Though reviews were mostly positive (76% on Rotten Tomatoes), the 8-episode series arrived without much fanfare.
Though the show's viewership numbers were nothing special, they were far from disastrous.
Kaos appeared in Netflix’s top 10 charts for English-language series in each of its first four weeks on the streamer, topping out at No. 3 for the week of Sept. 2-8. It earned 14.9 million views (measured by total viewing time divided by running time) over those weeks.
Perrineau has since shared the following.

And yet, just two months after its premiere, the cancellation came on Tuesday, October 8. Perrineau initially shared the ungodly...

We’ve got our first peek at Wednesday Season 2 that hints at the fun to expect when the dark comedy returns!
One of the biggest hits of 2022, Wednesday was a dream combination: Director Tim Burton taking on The Addams Family. Jenna Ortega played the title role of Wednesday Addams, the budding sociopath who, after a wild “prank” at her school, is sent to Westmoreland Academy, home to various supernatural beings.
As she navigates the school and a love triangle she could care less about, Wednesday starts investigating a series of murders leading to a dark conspiracy. The show was a huge critical hit with Ortega breaking out into stardom with moments like the now iconic dance number. Obviously, a second season was ordered, although it was delayed due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes and Ortega’s now busier schedule. Thankfully, it’s coming at last with Netflix offering a sneak peek...

“Kaos” (Netflix) “Kaos”
Technically, this one snuck in just under the wire last month, but if you haven’t watched Netflix’s take on the Greek gods, you definitely should. Jeff Goldblum stars as Zeus, who starts to spiral into divine disarray after he finds a wrinkle in his forehead and believes it’s a prophetic sign of his downfall.

Netflix’s Wednesday series has just dropped a teaser-trailer for the show’s upcoming second season. In the clip, viewers are treated to clips of the cast and crew working on the show. All the while, a few actors still manage to keep in-character, even as they address the audience.
The Teaser Boasts Things Are About To Get Bigger
The series, which reimagines the classic characters of The Addams Family, already boasts that things are about to get more “twisted” than the fans can imagine.
In a first-look featurette, viewers are welcomed by Luis Guzmán, who plays family patriarch Gomez Addams. He then addresses the audience with “Hello, my little storm cloud,” as if he were talking to Wednesday herself.

The Addams Family prequel was a massive hit when it arrived on the streaming platform two years ago and there's a great deal of intrigue surrounding this second batch of episodes.
At this stage, very little has been revealed in terms of plot details; on the plus side, Netflix has already confirmed Wednesday will return in 2025!
The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that...

The 2019 royal interrogation of Prince Andrew has become one of the most talked-about interviews ever. The heated Newsnight interview saw BBC journalist Emily Maitlis question the Duke of York about his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his possible involvement in it. The exchange in Buckingham Palace was Andrew's chance to prove his innocence... and it backfired, enormously.
The interview, which the 3-episode miniseries chronicles, was chased down by Maitlis and willingly sought after by Prince Andrew to clear his name and public image. The 50-minute exchange famously backfired for Andrew, after some rather peculiar alibis, and questionable statements -- the fact that he doesn't sweat and that he could perfectly recall exactly what he was doing on one random day from decades ago.
A Very Royal Scandal - Season 3 - Episode 303
Funnily enough, the 2019 interview was dramatized earlier this year. Scoop premiered on Netflix in April, telling the same story,...

Season 2 of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday has been filming in Ireland since May, and Netflix has just unveiled a video that gives a glimpse behind the scenes. In the process, they have also confirmed that the new batch of episodes will premiere sometime in 2025. That means Burton is at the helm of four of the season’s eight episodes.
Wednesday comes to us from Millar Gough Ink, Tim Burton Productions, Toluca Pictures, and MGM Television, and is described as a comedic, supernaturally-infused coming-of-age series that follows the teenage girl’s years...
