- L.A. Winters was born Lisa Ann Yokubinas in Baltimore, Maryland and has been a performer and storyteller for most of her life. After a long absence from the industry, while raising her three children, she is back and working. Although L.A. was previously most recognized as one of the 80's iconic Doublemint Twins, currently she is best known for her roles in the indie features; Grantham & Rose and The Mandie series. And most recently, for her role in the Stephen Soderbergh film Logan Lucky. At the age of ten, L.A. and her twin sister tagged along to their mother's audition for a part in a local community theater's production of Carousel. To their surprise, the director asked the girls to audition, too. And although her singing "debut" was a bust, L.A. did make it into the chorus-where she discovered a love of dance ... and of having an audience! During the summer she was 16, L.A. danced professionally in The Bugs Bunny Show at Six Flags; then, the following year, she continued dancing professionally in choreographed fashion shows in and around Chicago. Her dance opportunities led her into modeling, where she has enjoyed a long and successful career in print, commercials and industrials. In 1983, L.A.'s agent sent her to her first acting audition for the hit movie, Flashdance. One of the finalists for the lead role, she still recalls how visibly moved the casting director was in response to her audition-she realized at that moment acting would be her passion. She continued to expand her modeling and commercial work while studying acting in Chicago-and later in Atlanta, after moving there in 1985. A few years after her move, she had the opportunity to work in New York City as the lead in an off-off Broadway production of Barefoot in the Park. The interest from agents led to a 2 1/2-year stay in New York where she continued her training and work. After returning to Atlanta in 1990, Lisa and her husband began their family, raising three children while L.A. directed her creative talents into the arts programming at her church, serving as drama director and as a member of their creative team. L.A.'s return to professional acting has allowed her to engage in Atlanta's thriving community of actors, writers and filmmakers. In recent years, she discovered a love for working behind-the-camera as well, writing and producing. Her newly formed production company, A Thousand Word Pictures, LLC is currently producing her short film Parked . Her first full-length screenplay, Beautiful Goodbye, is in development. L.A. believes her artistic passion and purpose is to create stories and characters that are raw, real and redemptive. L.A. is an A.C.E. certified personal trainer and 200 hour RYT-Yoga instructor. In her limited spare time, she loves helping others find health and wellness through her fitness business, New Leaf Life.- IMDb Mini Biography By: L.A.Winters
