- In 1974 Jeff, along with Gary Sinise and Terry Kinney, began performing plays informally in a church basement in Highland Park. In 1975, the group incorporated. The Steppenwolf Theatre Company was born.

- Shonda Rhimes has a lovely reputation of using actors across her many successful TV shows; sort of like "Easter Eggs". On Grey's Anatomy, Jeff Perry, had a recurring role as Thatcher Grey, Meredith's estranged father. Jeff's daughter, Zoe Perry, played a patient of Dr Meredith Grey in season 9, episode 5. Zoe's mother and Jeff's ex-wife, Laurie Metcalf, also played a patient in season 2, episode 22. Zoe also had a short run as a character on Scandal, on which Jeff Perry is a series regular.
