- DJ Perry graduated from Sexton High School in 1988. Marianne Maddalena also a "Big Red" alumni went on to produce such major hits as the franchise of Scream (1996) films. DJ Perry went to Hollywood for his 1st time after being invited to read for Neve Campbell boyfriend 'Derek' in Scream 2 (1997). This came about after Marianne saw his 1st film role "One of Us" reading for Wes Craven in person. This audition was an early milestone for DJ despite losing the role to Jerry O'Connell after the studio wanted a talent with a TV series behind him.
- DJ Perry is counted among Michigan State University's notable film alumni as Frank Price, Walter Hill, James Caan, Edward S. Feldman, Joyce Ramsey, Sam Engel, Tom McGuane, Jim Harrison, Jim Cash, Jack Epps Jr., Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, Bill Mechanic, Bubba Smith.
- DJ Perry was granted permission by director Mike Clattenburg to wear a "Trailer Park Boys (1999) - Freedom 35" sweatshirt in his role of "Manny" Turner in director Mitch Nyberg's comedy/drama Realizism (2013)". The "Trailer Park Boys" Canadian TV series/feature films are cited as being among DJ's guilty pleasures.
- DJ Perry had the honor of playing young lead and son to legendary western actor Bill McKinney in the Lionsgate release of Ghost Town: The Movie (2007) released as "Dean Teaster's Ghost Town". This film marked the last western for Mr. McKinney best known for classic bad guy roles like Terrill in The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) opposite Clint Eastwood.
- DJ Perry is an accomplished screenplay writer with several produced features under his belt. Several of his screenplays have also been novelized into books. Most recently he was the screenplay writer for all three films in THE QUEST TRILOGY ("Forty Nights" * Winner of the 2017 'Most Inspirational Film' at the International Christian Film Festival, "Chasing the Star," and "The Christ Slayer") and the upcoming western "Wild Faith" releasing in 2018.
