Pennington has mixed feelings about
Small Wonder (1985), the show for which she is best remembered. On one hand, she was grateful to be able to earn and save money from the show, which ran for four seasons. On the other hand, she didn't think the show displayed her talents and showed her at her best, so after the show ended she left acting to raise her family. She still keeps in touch with the show's cast.
