Exclusive: International sales and production company Number 11 Entertainment has set “Queen of Mean” Mma fighter Miriam Nakamoto as lead in action-romance movie Wildwood.

Nakamoto — in her feature debut — will play a young woman on the run from her mother and a pair of hired killers who stumbles into a small town where she’s mistaken for a local girl who mysteriously vanished years earlier.

The film will be directed by Delany Bishop (Terror Eyes) and was written by screenwriter and novelist Cara Vescio, best known for her novel series, Wasted. Keith Wells is producing for Number 11 Entertainment, along with Michelle Seañez, with Number 11 handling world sales.

The pic is scheduled to shoot later this year. Number 11 will be introducing the project to buyers at the upcoming Marché du Film in Cannes.

"Red Tails", the new Ww II action feature funded solely by executive producer George Lucas and distributed by "Star Wars" studio 20th Century Fox, earned $19.1 million at the domestic box office over the weekend.

Incorporating Lucafilm Ltd.'s new 'Auro-3D 11.1' audio format, the film was inspired by the true, air force exploits of the first all African-American aerial combat unit.

"Red Tails" is directed by Anthony Hemingway ("Battlestar Galactica") for producers Rick McCallum and Charles Floyd Johnson.

MTV have debuted a new high-action trailer and poster for Lucas Films’ Red Tails, the highly anticipated over two decades long passion project from producer George Lucas that unsurprisingly features some amazing aerial action sequences and visual effects but seems to fall down on character and dialogue. Lucas has been planning this movie since at least the late 7o’s (obviously the end sequence of Star Wars was shot his early version of a World War II combat assault) and is decades long realised, so the action had to be good.

The trailer also acts as a sort-of introduction to the Tuskegee Airmen and the trials and tribulations they faced throughout World War 2.

I really love the action we've seen in the first two trailers for the George Lucas-produced, Anthony Hemingway-directed WWII film Red Tails. In both the first trailer [1] and this new one, we see some spectacular dogfighting action. It's the sort of stuff that any student of Lucas knows has been the filmmaker's major preoccupation for decades. Seeing these encounters created as direct (if exaggerated) representations of World War II, rather than filtered through the lens of Star Wars, is pretty neat. As for the rest of the footage... well, the acting looks a bit on the uninspired side, doesn't it? I'm not sure that will even matter, because between the action and the 'against all odds' true story of the Tuskegee Airmen, Red Tails might have to really work overtime before it stalls out. After debuting a first trailer, Lucasfilm has unveiled a shorter, action-filled teaser for their WWII aerial combat action drama Red Tails. This piece works a bit better as the hokey dialogue is cut down and we get to see more of Industrial Light and Magic’s work. I’m still not sold on the some of the third-person aerial dogfights, but the action from the cockpit Pov looks well-done. Check out the trailer and poster below via MTV.

George Lucas began developing Red Tails around 1988 and has compared it to Tucker: The Man and His Dream as “a story too good to be true”. Thomas Carter was his original choice to direct and a number of writers worked on the project until John Ridley was finally hired in 2007 to write the final screenplay and Anthony Hemingway was finally chosen to direct in 2008. In researching the film, Lucasfilm invited some of the surviving Tuskegee Airmen to Skywalker Ranch, where they were interviewed about their experiences during World War II and supposedly Lucasfilm was also given access to the original mission logbooks used by some of the pilots.

Back in April of 2009, we found out about the impressive cast being put together for a movie called Red Tails, which was being produced by George Lucas and his Lucasfilms banner. Now, over two years later, a trailer for the movie has been released, and you can see if for yourself below.

The movie tells the story of a group of African American dogfighters known as the Tuskegee Airmen, who built an incredible reputation during World War II for getting the job done, but weren't always allowed anywhere near the action due to the racist policies of the time period.

Here’s the plot synopsis for Red Tails:

1944. As the war in Europe continues to take its toll on Allied forces, the Pentagon brass has no recourse but to consider unorthodox options – including the untried and untested African-American pilots of the experimental Tuskegee training program. Just as the young Tuskegee men are on the brink of being shut down and shipped back home, they are given the ultimate chance to show their courage.

Break out your best 'delayed flight' metaphors: the George Lucas-produced film Red Tails, which follows the exploits of WWII flyers the Tuskegee Airmen, is finally going to hit skies. Or screens, as it were. The date: January 20, 2012, confirming previous info [1] from director Anthony Hemingway that the film would be released this coming January. Along with that release date the trailer for the film has just hit. Get a look at the war film that was many years in the making, after the break. There is not a damn subtle thing about the script, or so it seems from the dialogue we hear in this trailer. But the action looks fantastic and even with the clunky dialogue I have a feeling this one might play like gangbusters. Seems to me like you'd have to work pretty hard to make a film about these pilots that couldn't move an audience at least a little bit.

Although he didn’t actually direct the film (that credit goes to Anthony Hemingway), it is reported that executive producer George Lucas had a heavy hand in the editing process and handling reshoots for his WWII combat fighter story Red Tails. Following a group of African-American pilots the large cast includes Terrence Howard, NeYo, Andre Royo, Nate Parker, David Oyelowo, Cuba Gooding Jr., Bryan Cranston, Method Man, Tristan Wilds, Kevin Phillips, Rick Otto, Lee Tergesen, Elijah Kelley, Marcus T. We now have the first trailer for the film that Industrial Light & Magic worked on. Their effects are apparent, as most of the aircraft scenes have that polish one expects from the outfit. I’m still not sold on some of the drama, as it looks a bit generic and recycled, but with a strong cast (and Gooding Jr.

George Lucas isn't exactly short of money and clout when it comes to the movie business. So, why is it taking so long for him to release his latest cinematic venture, Red Tails?

The project has been long in development. In fact, it was announced way back in 2005. For those of you unfamiliar with the film, Red Tails focuses on the Tuskegee Airmen, African American WWII fighter pilots who faced enormous prejudice in order to fight for their country.

Named after the place where they were trained, the Tuskegee Airmen (formerly the 332nd Fighter Group) were known as the Red Tails, as they flew Mustangs with, well, red tails. Protecting bombers in raids over Italy and Germany, the 332nd were famous for not losing one bomber under their protection.

Back in March, director Jan de Bont (Speed, Twister) was getting ready to shoot the "Point Break" sequel in Indonesia and Australia. Then Bont was replaced by Jeff Wadlow and the project seemingly came to a screeching halt. Moviehole tried to get in touch with several of its studio contacts to find out if there has been any movement on "Point Break Indo," but didn't get many responses. Then a bit later in the day, the site heard back from two trusted sources, both stating that the project is currently dead. The sequel may one day happen, but at this stage, all attached cast members (Damien Walshe-Howling, Rick Otto) have been freed up to work on other projects.

Surf's out for the Point Break sequel - the film has been shelved.

Point Break Indo was due to shoot in Australia and Indonesia without the stars of the 1991 original, and Lori Petty, who appeared in the cult film, isn't surprised the film project has drowned without her, Patrick Swayze or Keanu Reeves.

She tells MovieHole.net, "How can do they do a sequel and not put me, Keanu or Patrick in it? I mean, even a cameo - like a Where's Waldo kind of thing.

"(We could be) in the background somewhere. It would've sold, like, $10 million more tickets!"

Point Break Indo was to have been directed by Jeff Wadlow, who replaced Jan de Bont. The stars, Damien Walshe-Howling and Rick Otto, have been released from the project and allowed to seek other acting work, according to MovieHole.net.

The last we heard about Red Tails, the new George Lucas project, dear, classy George was saying that while he wasn't directing the feature, "a black director" was. (The name Lucas failed to mention: Anthony Hemingway.) And now we've got a cast. The Hollywood Reporter posts that Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard will head the ensemble cast that includes a whole slew of names.
