Peggy became a very popular singer and actress in England where she starred in the hit plays Peg O' My Heart and Paddy the Next Best Thing.

Peggy was the first person to be interviewed on television, appearing on an experimental Baird Televisor at the Ideal Home Exhibition in Southampton, England, 1930.

In 1920 an obsessed fan sent her a box of chocolates laced with arsenic. She became very ill and her dog died after eating them.
