Television fans of a certain age should be giving the Hallmark Channel a special thanks as they are reuniting two of the stars of one of the most popular family dramas of the late-1990s, “Party of Five,” it just so happens that both said stars happen to be regulars in the Hallmark movie rotation. In “A Merry Scottish Christmas” — as they did on “Party of Five” — Scott Wolf and Lacey Chabert play brother and sister, but unlike as the Bailey and Claudia Salinger, these siblings do not have the best of relationships. However, when they travel to Scotland to visit their mother for Christmas, a major secret is revealed that just might repair their fractured relationship. The movie premieres on the Hallmark Channel on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. Et. You can watch A Merry Scottish Christmas and Hallmark Channel with a 7-Day Free Trial of Philo. A historic first meeting has taken place between the UK and Irish heads of actors union Equity in which they called for film productions in Ireland to ensure equal and fair terms and conditions for both British and Irish performers.
Ireland has in recent years become a hotbed of activity for TV and film and a record €500M ($550M) was spent there last year but international production companies are still paying lesser terms and applying worse conditions to Irish actors, according to the union.
Many production companies in the Republic of Ireland offer buy-outs to actors who then lose appropriate royalties and protection for their performances while their employers enjoy government tax breaks and licence fee revenues, the union added.

Coming from Conor McMahon, director of cult horror movie Stitches, From The Dark, filmed on location in Co. Laois, has finished principal photography. Starring Irish talent Niamh Algar (Savage Eye), Stephen Cromwell (Love/Hate), and Gerry O'Brien (Reign of Fire), From The Dark tells the story of a young couple who encounter an ancient evil on a road trip through the Irish countryside. No word whether this will follow the humorous road taken by Stitches, but judging by the creepy first image from the movie above, featuring Algar trapped in an underground tunnel, I have a feeling McMahon might be tackling straight horror this time round. No release date has been given for From The Dark as of yet.
