Simon Northwood considers himself to be a well-travelled and adaptable
individual. He was born in Wimbledon, England. His family moved between
the United States and Canada before settling down in Burlington,
Ontario in 1980. With his father being a Carnival Cruise Director for
over 20 years, travelling and entertaining are in his blood. The world
was his classroom. In 1985 Simon took an interest in Martial Arts,
which he continues to practice today. He attained his Yodan belt or
fourth degree black belt in Wado Kai Karate and competed for 24 years.
In 2000 he was a part of the Canadian National Karate team. It was
during his competitive years that his interest in acting and stunt
performing peaked. However, a career in animation was becoming more of
a reality. Simon went to Sheridan College and began taking animation
courses in 1992. He worked in the industry for 10 years and was hired
by Disney Studios Canada as an F/X Animator. He enjoyed his work but
the need to take his artistic talents off paper and onto the big
screen, got stronger as the years went on. With a true passion and the
need to pursue his dreams, Simon opted out of animation. He began
taking acting classes and training to pursue a career as an Action
Actor, as he eloquently puts it. He wanted to be on camera with
speaking parts and do his own stunts. Over the past 13 years, Simon has
appeared in over 50 film and television productions. He has performed
as an action actor in feature films such as Outlander, Repo Men, and
most recently, Wolves. In addition to television productions such as
Nikita, Lost Girl, IIIX The Series and Alphas. He was also a stunt
performer in films such as 300, Immortals, Red, Robocop, Clown, Pacific
Rim and most recently, White House Down. With his eye on the prize,
Simon continues to take acting classes. He approaches every on camera
opportunity as a way to grow and perfect his skills as an overall
performer.
