Biography

Cindy Newman's father was an Air Force pilot which required her to spend her childhood moving from Idaho to Tennessee and Arkansas until her family relocated to Texas, where she attended the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in her early teens. Cindy spent her afternoons and weekends doing fashion runway work and amateur photo shoots during her high school years until she graduated. It was then that she was employed as a cocktail waitress at Sugar's Cabaret in Austin...and it wasn't long before she realized the money would be much better dancing on the stage as opposed to serving drinks around the stage...and so Cindy Newman adopted the stage name of "Ivory" and became a topless dancer at 18 years of age in 1984.

Ivory who was very tall and buxom quickly earned the reputation as a fan favorite at Sugar's Cabaret because of her voluptuous beauty and her sensual enthusiasm, so she was soon one of the most popular dancers at the club. With her new found success she soon left for Houston to dance at the even more upscale and famed Rick's Cabaret where she eventually worked with Ginger Lynn on the R rated adult movies Sheer Heaven (1988) that was broadcast on the Playboy Channel. There were no speaking parts...just Ivory dancing around in sexy lingerie with other beautiful topless girls. By the summer of 1989 Ivory was at the top of her game and being photographed by both Playboy and Penthouse magazines and even appearing on The Girls of Rick's calendar with Anna Nicole Smith making her modeling aspirations finally come true.

Returning to Austin a seasoned veteran of the stripper pole, Ivory continued to dance at Sugar's Cabaret where she landed her first "big" acting role in the NBC movie Dream Date (1989) complete with a small speaking part and her own dressing room. It was her big break and Ivory basked in the glory of her 15 minutes of fame during her premiere party thrown by all her coworkers and friends, but there would be no more movie offers until Blank Check (1994) 5 years later, but by this time Ivory had become a very successful performance artist while trekking to the likes of Mexico and Hawaii and Japan so she decided instead to decline the offer of an uncredited waitress role in favor of moving to Las Vegas to be an erotic dancer at the luxurious Olympic Garden.

By the mid 90's Ivory had changed her trademark auburn colored locks and was now a towering blonde bombshell, and using Austin and Perfect 10 Mens Club as her home base, she began touring the country as a Feature Dancer using her movie and print credits to book Feature engagements throughout Texas and across the country stripping and selling autographed photos at places like Stocks & Blondes in San Francisco, Glitter Gulch in Las Vegas, Baby Dolls in Dallas, PT's in St Louis, Platinum Plus in Memphis, Flight Club in Detroit...just to name a few. Following the millennium, Ivory spent most of her time in south Austin teaching Art of Sensual Dance seminars and working at various topless bars such as The Yellow Rose and Expose Men's Club. Ivory, who made a lifelong career out of a relatively short term occupation finally retired from dancing full time in the winter of 2010 and her last known public appearance was at The Landing Strip in Austin Texas in January of 2012 at the age of 46, yet looking all of 36...as was always so typical of Ivory to look so much younger than she really was.

Cindy Newman now quietly resides in the Midwest raising her only child with her husband of 25 years.
