Today, Rani Mukerji celebrated her birthday with the paparazzi, donning a white outfit adorned with a white necklace. The actress graciously accepted cakes and flowers from them, even cutting a cake herself and offering a slice to the photographers. Rani Mukerji was born on March 21.

Mumbai, March 23 (Ians) The Rani Mukerji-starrer "Hichki" was released three years ago on this day. The actress lost her father Ram Mukherjee while shooting the film, and she recalls using his walking stick in the last scene of the film.

"I lost my dad around the same time I was filming for 'Hichki', and since my parents have been an integral part of my career and always see my films first, this was the first film my dad was not going to be there to see my performance," Rani recalled.

It is with sadness that we must report that Rani Mukerji’s father Ram Mukerji has passed away. He was 84.

Rani’s spokesperson gave us this statement, “Ram Mukerji, respected film-maker, beloved father and husband, is no more. He passed away on October 22 at 6 am due to natural causes. Close friends and family attended his quiet funeral at 2pm this afternoon. Ram Mukerji was one of the key associates of S Mukerji and one of the founder members of Filmalaya studios and is known for directing films like Hum Hindustani and Leader starring the legend Dilip Kumar. He will be sorely missed by his wife Krishna Mukerji, daughter Rani Mukerji, son Raja Mukerji and the rest of the family.”

October 9, 2010 : Bollywood queen Rani Mukherjee is likely to be seen in a Bengali film titled Africa. Two-time National Award winning filmmaker Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury has reportedly approached the actress with the project and she is most likely to sign it.

If Rani agrees to sign the project then it will be her first full-fledged Bengali film. She was seen in a Bengali film called Biyer Phool in 1992, which was directed by her father Ram Mukherjee. But it was not that significant because she did not have a full- length role in the film.

A source was quoted saying that the director had met Rani in Mumbai and narrated the story to her. Rani was reportedly excited and asked Aniruddha to come to Mumbai again after.
