- Cyril Morin is an Academy member, a Recording Academy member and a European Academy member. He is also a multi-award winning composer with more than 150 soundtracks for both film and television.
Morin has produced over 40 albums, soundtracks and solo albums for his own label, Massive Music. He has also orchestrated songs for Madonna, Mirwais, Kery James and the Indian singer Vidya Rao. Also a solo artist, Morin's "The Evolutionist" has been hailed a "cinematic journey" and a 'beautiful fusion of sound" by critics.
His score for the critically acclaimed "Samsara" (directed by Pan Nalin), won honors at AFI and festivals in Santa Barbara and Melbourne. The soundtrack continues to be a hit internationally, garnering many dedicated fans, and has made Morin something of a cult composer. He was nominated for a World Soundtrack Award and a European Film Award for "The Syrian Bride" (dir. Eran Riklis), and his score for "Little Jerusalem" (directed by Karin Albou with Elsa Zylberstein), which screened during Critics week at the Cannes Film Festival, earning him two awards.
He scored two other films directed by Eran Riklis, "Playoff" (with Danny Huston) and "Zaytoun" (with Steven Dorff), which screened at the Toronto film festival, AFI and London film festivals. Zaytoun's score get a nomination for the Jerry Goldsmith Awards.
Morin has also worked on numerous TV features, documentaries and the critically acclaimed series "Mafiosa" (directed by Louis Choquette) and "Borgia" (a Tom Fontana series). The music for the documentary "Faith Connections" gave him an other nomination for the Jerry Goldsmith Awards.
Cyril Morin is doing his directorial and producer debut. In 2013, he wrote and directed The Activist, a thriller about American political unrest regarding the Native Americans at Wounded Knee. Released in 2014, the film won awards at the Sedona, Tenerife, and Red Nation film festivals. It also received two Henri Langlois awards in France. The Activist was named one of the top 10 essential Native American films by Indian Country Today.
In 2016, he released Hacker's Game, a love story between two hackers, starring Pom Klementieff ( Guardian of the Galaxy, Mission Impossible) and Chris Schellenger (The Canyons). This film swept the Indie Fest Film Awards with four wins.
His next film, NY84, was released in 2017. Inspired by the artists and music of the 1980s, the film looks at the beginnings of the AIDS crisis in New York.
His two first films films were re-released in 2020 under the name "The Sacrifice Zone (The Activist)" and "Hacker's Game Redux".
Recently Cyril Morin has composed several soundtracks around the globe. "Last film show" directed Pan Nalin was shortlisted for the Academy Award (international feature). "Sira", directed by Apolline Traore reached Berlin FF and Toronto FF. "Cold Meat" (directed by Sebastien Drouin with Allen Leech) is at FrighFest/London.
