- He was the captain of the England Soccer team that won the World Cup in 1966.

- 544 appearances for West Ham United in English First Division (1958 to 1973), scored 24 goals.
- Took part in 2 FIFA world cups (1966 in England and 1970 in Mexico).
- A memorial service was held for him at Westminster Abbey on 28 June 1993.
