- Sultry Spanish model, actress and dancer, a performer from childhood and in films from 1927. Previously on stage with the touring Fanchon & Marco dance troupe. Came to Hollywood under contract to MGM in 1930, but within a year moved over to Fox where she made several films as exotic second leads or south-of-the-border senoritas. Retired after starring in the title role of legendary dancer Lola Montes (1944).
