The Doctor Odyssey season 1 fall finale promises not to disappoint. Let’s take a look inside the episode.
Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 8 promises us bombshells and emergency surgeries. Of course, there are some very tropey storylines for a rather tropey show. They’re sure to add some drama and excitement, though.
Avery is pregnant in Doctor Odyssey season 1, episode 8
After that wild night a couple of episodes ago, Avery has some rather surprising news. She’s pregnant. Of course, she has no idea who the father is. At least telling the two men that she has slept with both of them won’t come as a surprise. They were both there when it happened. The question is which one the father is.
Will we see something like Boston Legal where the two men battled it out? Brad and Jeffrey were both willing to step up when they found out Denise was pregnant.

There’s an admirable ambition to Jack Begert’s directorial debut, Little Death. The film, which premiered at Sundance, announces its intentions with an early scene of communal complaint. At dinner, Martin Solomon (David Schwimmer), a TV writer with directorial aspirations, laments the state of his industry. In addition to their disdain for lazy and too-sensitive audiences, he and his friend, Augustus (Fred Melamed), discuss the limitations of narrative filmmaking. Augustus argues that television allows writers to explore the interiority of multiple characters, whereas films can only really sustain one point of view.
With Little Death, Begert tries to prove Augustus wrong. The director, who co-wrote the film’s screenplay with Dani Goffstein, constructs a story plunging viewers into the ravaged emotional lives of different characters. It tries to stretch the bounds of the narrative form, to upend convention and encourage us to rethink our relationship to storytelling. It aims...

Emilia Jones (Coda) and Nicholas Braun (Succession) co-star in Cat Person, a sharply written thriller that explores the minefield of dating in the modern era. Based on the New Yorker short story by Kristen Roupenian, it’s by turns chilling, suspenseful and provocative.
Directed by Susanna Fogel, Cat Person centres on 20-year-old Margot (Jones) a second-year student who also holds down a concession stand job at her local cinema. That’s where she meets Robert (Braun), a tall, bearded older man who takes her number after a bit of cross-counter flirtation.
Soon Margot and Robert are texting each other all the time, much to the consternation of her protective best friend Taylor (Geraldine Viswanathan), who’s on high alert for red flags,...

"This is the worst life decision I've ever made..." Rialto Pictures has revealed the official trailer for the Cat Person movie, adapted from the famous New Yorker article of the same name. This first premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and it opens in theaters starting in October. When Margot, a college sophomore goes on a date with the older Robert, she finds Irl Robert doesn't live up to the Robert she has been flirting with over texts. A razor-sharp exploration of the horrors of dating. "Like the short story that stirred so much controversy, Cat Person will call upon you to reflect on romantic encounters you've had in the past, and to question the role (or multiple roles) you may have played. We've all been the victim in some narratives and the villain in others..." The film stars Emilia Jones as Margot, Nicholas Braun as Robert,...

Emilia Jones (Coda) and Nicholas Braun (Succession) do not appear to be a match made in heaven in the first trailer for Cat Person.
Set for release Oct. 6 from Rialto Pictures, director Susanna Fogel’s feature premiered in January at the Sundance Film Festival and is adapted from author Kristen Roupenian’s viral New Yorker short story of the same name. Cat Person offers a look at contemporary dating by focusing on college student Margot (Jones), who has a fling with an older man named Robert (Braun) but soon gets suspicious about him.
After Margot expresses regrets about her time spent with Robert — who had previously described himself as a cat person — her friend Taylor (Geraldine Viswanathan) asks if at least his pet felines were cute. “I never saw them,” Margot replies ominously as she begins to doubt how honest he’s been.
Later in the trailer, Margot concludes nonchalantly,...

“Cat Person,” an adaptation of Kristen Roupenian’s insanely popular (and equally controversial) 2017 New Yorker short story, has just debuted the first official trailer ahead of its October launch from Rialto Pictures and StudioCanal. You can watch it above and get totally creeped out.
In “Cat Person,” Emilia Jones (“Coda”) plays Margot, who starts to date an older man (“Succession” star Nicholas Braun) before discovering something much more sinister lurking beneath the surface. Geraldine Viswanathan, Hope Davis, Michael Gandolfini, Liza Koshy, Fred Melamed, Isaac Cole Powell and Isabella Rossellini also star in the thriller.
“Cat Person” was written by Michelle Ashford and directed by Susanna Fogel, who cowrote “Booksmart” and directed “The Spy Who Dumped Me” along with episodes of “Amazing Stories,” “The Flight Attendant,” “Utopia” (where she worked with Jones) and “A Small Light.”

The folks at Studiocanal and Rialto Pictures have released a trailer, as well as the release date, for "Cat Person." The movie is based on Kristen Roupenians' 2017 short story of the same name that was published in The New Yorker, and features Emilia Jones from the Best Picture winner "Coda" having the hook-up from hell with Nicholas Braun, aka cousin Greg from "Succession." Bad hook-ups are common in the age of internet dating, sure, but in this case, things go from bad to downright scary.
Susanna Fogel directed the film, with Michelle Ashford ("Masters of Sex") penning the screenplay. The adaptation of the short story is due to hit theaters in October and figures to be a conversation starter as part of the fall moviegoing season. Let's roll the trailer.

After world premiering to much buzz at Sundance back in January, the darkly comedic dating thriller Cat Person has finally unveiled a first trailer and release date, having been set to open in U.S. theaters via Rialto Pictures beginning October 6th.
An adaptation of Kristen Roupenian’s viral New Yorker short story fully financed by Studiocanal, Cat Person looks at the brief relationship between 20-year-old college sophomore Margot (Coda‘s Emilia Jones) and the somewhat-older Robert (Succession‘s Nicholas Braun) from the perspective of both characters, as a means of commenting on the experience of dating today.
In an appearance alongside her leads at Deadline’s Sundance studio earlier this year, pic’s DGA Award-winning director Susanna Fogel noted that the idea of toggling back and forth between the POVs of her protagonists was compelling, in that it allowed her to explore “miscommunications and the cultural baggage that men and women bring into dating,...

Just before he confronts the gangsters who’ve abducted his family, Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) takes a moment in the parking lot. “Lord, I’m gonna die tonight. Please give me the strength to sacrifice myself so that my son can live a long and pious life,” he prays. “And that by doing this, all my sins will be washed and I will be redeemed in your eyes, and I will be able to sit next to you in my rightful place in the kingdom of heaven for all eternity. Amen.”
As it turns out, the encounter never actually comes to that. Barry’s barely out of the car when Fuches (Stephen Root) ushers Barry’s unharmed son John (Zachary Golinger) straight to him, then disappears into the night without a word. Hader‘s face registers less relief than disappointment. Dying for John would’ve been hard, but it would’ve been straightforward.

Hard though it may be to believe, there are just two episodes left in the HBO series "Barry," which used to lean more heavily on the comic side of things even amidst its dark setup. Now, though, it's pretty much all in on darkness. And with "a nice meal," the title belies a similar sense of grimness. Last week left off on quite the cliffhanger: Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) had come very close to his mission of returning to Los Angeles and killing his old acting teacher Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) for potentially consulting on a biopic of his life, before being captured by Jim Moss (Robert Wisdom) and brought to his garage, where we know weaker men have barely withstood the terror of this grieving father/ex-cop. Oh, and Sally (Sarah Goldberg) is being beset upon by a mix of hallucinations and angry ex-co-workers as she fails to tend...

When last we left Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) and Sally Reed (Sarah Goldberg) on the HBO series "Barry," they were in great distress. (When has that ever not been true?) Barry and Sally have made a meager life for themselves and their son John (Zachary Golinger) in middle America for eight years, thanks to being in the FBI Witness Protection program after Barry revealed secrets of his time with the Chechen mob to get out of jail. They've reinvented themselves as Clark and Emily, a married couple that doesn't do much aside from home-schooling John, and working at a local diner. But Sally and Barry are both shocked to learn, via the Hollywood Reporter, that a) Warner Bros. is pursuing a biopic about Barry's life as a hitman/acting student and b) Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) has come out of hiding after having shot his son Leo (Andrew Leeds) to purportedly consult on the film.

... Well then! If you've just watched tonight's episode of HBO's "Barry," entitled "it takes a psycho", then you know that for a show that is rarely screwing around, this episode really and truly did not screw around. If you haven't watched, just be warned (even more than usual) that surprises are plenty this week, so spoilers ahoy.
As you'll likely recall, last week's installment wrapped with Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) escaping prison thanks to a botched hit job (involving a hitman/podcaster played by Fred Armisen). So it's no surprise that this week starts in prison, as the grumpy warden (Richard Riehle) instigates a beatdown of Barry's old friend Monroe Fuches (Stephen Root), presuming the latter let the would-be assassins inside. Though Fuches did know about the attempt on Barry's life and tried to warn the now-infuriated guards, he of course has no idea where Barry might be at the moment.

Spoilers for "Barry" follow.
Despite how dark and dramatic the show has progressively become "Barry" is a comedy series. The latest episode of season 4, "you're charming," featured a gag that the series has used before with very funny results.
Last season, Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler) helped put Barry (Bill Hader) behind bars with a sting operation. Despite a promise not to talk to the media, Gene couldn't resist the spotlight. In the previous episode, "bestest place on the earth," he dug his own grave by talking with Vanity Fair reporter Lon O'Neil (Patrick Fischler). Worse, Gene didn't settle for a simple interview -- he performed a one-man show recounting his entire relationship with Barry and forgot to request anonymity until after the performance was over.
In "you're charming," the Los Angeles D.A. tells Gene and his agent Tom (Fred Melamed) about Barry cutting a deal with the FBI for immunity.

This post contains spoilers for this week’s episode of Barry, “You’re Charming.”
Among the more frequent objections I’ve heard about Barry since Season One is that the show has grown so dark that it no longer feels like a comedy most of the time. It’s an understandable concern. Heck, I expressed it myself during Season Two (though I feel the more recent years have been better balanced). As great as the show has become at drama, action, suspense, and horror, you can’t blame anyone for...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Barry” Season 4, Episode 3, “You’re Charming.”]
Weird things happen on “Barry.” They always have. For all the talk about how the show has gotten darker with each passing season, part of that comes from how that weirdness gets woven into the fabric of the show. In the beginning, the oddities that popped up were almost novelties, things designed to distract from the fact that one man’s soul was being siphoned away with each passing job. “Ronny/Lily” was something to be unpacked, a mystery where you could still find a weird sense of cathartic comfort in Stephen Root shouting from behind the wheel of a car.
Over time, that morphed into something else. By last season’s “710N,” the wild, out-of-the-blue parts of “Barry” became more dangerous. A highway chase was not only the show tackling an action setpiece on a grander scale, it was a bigger threat. By the time Hank (Anthony Carrigan) finds...

Bill Hader is many things, especially a cinephile. When you watch "Barry," it's obvious that his influences lie in the films of the Coen Brothers, among others, but he's done videos for the Criterion Channel and spoken at length about the films and filmmakers he loves before. The third episode of the final season of "Barry," titled "you're charming," wastes little time at all — there's no cold open before the title card, and within a minute of the episode beginning, I think we can safely say we've learned a filmmaker Bill Hader must like an awful lot.
That, of course, would be Oscar-winning director Guillermo del Toro, who appears here as, simply, Toro. If you were paying attention during last week's two-part premiere, you know that NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan) contacted someone named Toro to see if Barry Berkman could be broken out of prison. The curtain is closing on Barry, HBO‘s dark comedy series about a hit man from the Midwest who moves to Los Angeles and falls in love with the stage. HBO released its Barry Season 4 trailer on Wednesday, featuring Bill Hader’s irredeemable character losing his grip and creating chaos, even behind bars. The Emmy-winning series returns with the first of eight episodes on April 16, 2023, on HBO, with new episodes every Sunday until the May 28 series finale.
Here’s the official logline for Barry Season 4:
Cousineau (Henry Winkler) is hailed as a hero as Barry’s (Bill Hader) arrest has shocking consequences. It’s all been leading up to this – Barry’s explosive and hilarious final chapter.

A new, full-length trailer for “Barry” Season 4 has arrived, offering a closer look at what to expect from the final eight episodes of the Emmy-winning half-hour series. Hader’s Barry is in jail following the Season 3 finale’s big sting operation, and we get glimpses of how those around Barry – Sally (Sarah Goldberg), Gene (Henry Winkler), Fuches (Stephen Root) and Hank (Anthony Carrigan) – are dealing with this new development.
“The guy I was dating in LA killed my acting teacher’s girlfriend,” Sally is heard saying in the trailer, followed by, “I think I might be in a lot of trouble.”
Barry is in jail, seen really laying it on himself as he deals with the consequences of his actions. Fuches is also in jail, and it appears as though he’s in the same prison as Barry.

As James Gunn and Peter Safran reshape the DC universe at Warner Bros. Discovery, film and TV aren’t the only mediums where iconic characters like Batman, Harley Quinn and the Joker are taking on new lives.
Thanks to an expansive, multiyear first-look deal with Spotify, DC has attracted new and returning fans to its rich IP — without being beholden to the intricacies of a mapped-out multiverse, the same actors portraying its characters or the costs of a typical high-wattage and effects-heavy superhero production.

Season three of HBO’s critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-winning Barry ended with Barry Berkman (Bill Hader) under arrest. The teaser trailer for season four confirms that while Barry is, in fact, behind bars, he remains at the heart of the story.
Dropping the teaser trailer, HBO announced an April 16, 2023 premiere date. The network also announced season four will be the show’s final season, which means only eight new episodes remain to wrap up Barry’s story.
Season four’s first two episodes arrive on April 16th, with new episodes premiering on Sundays at 10pm Et/Pt. The series finale will air on May 28th.
“It’s been an amazing journey making this show, and it’s bittersweet that the story has come to its natural conclusion,” said three-time Emmy Award-winner Bill Hader.

“Barry” is the latest critically acclaimed, Emmy-winning series to say those four little words: “Fourth and final season.” HBO’s dark comedy will end after its upcoming season, co-creator Bill Hader announced Tuesday in an interview with Variety. The news was accompanied by a premiere date – which comes surprisingly soon – and a teaser trailer.
The trailer picks up where Season 3 left off, with aspiring actor/professional hitman Barry Berkman (Hader) in prison after being lured into a trap by his acting teacher and mentor Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler). In the teaser, Barry makes phone calls and sees visions of the people important to him. In one call, he breaks down as he tells someone he loves them. In what could be the same call or a different one, Gene says to him, “Hey Barry, I got you.” And in the last one at the end of the teaser, he growls “So help me God,...

In what could be the same call or a different one, Gene says to him, “Hey Barry, I got you.” And in the last one at the end of the teaser, he growls “So help me God,...

One of the most anticipated films of this year’s Sundance Film Festival was “Cat Person,” the feature adaptation of Kristen Roupenian’s viral New Yorker story of the same name. The Jan. 21 world premiere left the audience at the Eccles Theatre cringing and cackling at this dark look at modern dating.
Directed by Susanna Fogel from a screenplay by Michelle Ashford, “Cat Person” stars “Coda” breakout Emilia Jones and “Succession” favorite Nicholas Braun as a new couple whose lives get tangled together amid many red flags and miscommunications. Told from the point of view of Jones’ savvy college student Margot, her relationship with older local man Robert (Braun) starts out strained as, despite mutual attraction, their communication styles don’t match. But as their romance moves forward, the film touches upon contemporary discussions like the shifting nature of consent and honesty in relationships.

Like most viral internet obsessions heralded as evidence of the zeitgeist, Kristen Roupenian’s “Cat Person” was more cultural litmus test than anything else.
The short story, published in The New Yorker during the winter of 2017, was met with almost vertiginous levels of fanfare and debate. On one side: applause for Roupenian’s blunt portrayal of 21st-century dating, which mirrored the confessional verve of a New York Magazine “Sex Diaries” column. On the other: eye-rolls directed at the hype machine, criticisms aimed at the writer’s style, complaints filed from offended parties.
The story, a provocative tale of a curdling romance between a college sophomore and a man more than a decade her senior, was obscured in the cacophony of the discourse. The conversation — on the merits of the story, on why it elicited such a strong reaction, on what it says about communication — spiraled, and the plot was lost.
