Fidel Castro was the best man at her wedding to Antonio Gades.

In 1985, when her career was still flourishing, she chose to leave everything and return to her homeland of Malaga to live as a homemaker. She has received many offers to return to showbusiness, but she even declines simple TV interviews.

Lives in Malaga, Spain, where she has retired from performing and is now a social and humanitarian activist. (August 2004)
