James Gunn’s Creature Commandos can’t stop throwing in the Easter Eggs at fans, as more DC Comics characters make an appearance in the show’s latest episode. Gunn also introduces one of the weirdest characters from the comics. In the third episode, fans got a glimpse of the character Sven Larsen aka Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man. For those unfamiliar with the character, that is a very literal name.

In the comics, the character is a popular foe of Doom Patrol, a group of misfits having weird superpowers. Interestingly, James Gunn can’t boast himself to be the first one to introduce the freaky character on the screen. Earlier, Max had adapted Doom Patrol into a live-action series and Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man made an appearance in the series.

As co-president of DC Studios, James Gunn has (to borrow from the competition) great power and great responsibility. As DC fan, I appreciate that he's doing his part to boost the company's comic books. So many other superhero movie writers treat the comics as only raw material, but Gunn's got real passion for them.

You can see that earnest love in how deep he pulls from the comics. At Marvel Studios, Gunn elevated the Guardians of the Galaxy into the mainstream and made his fave Rocket Raccoon a household name. Gunn's "The Suicide Squad" was similarly filled with deep cuts from DC comic books. No one else would make a blockbuster starring characters like Peacemaker (John Cena), Ratcatcher (Daniela Melchior), and Polka-Dot Man.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” continued its 9th season on Friday, June 7 with the fifth episode featuring returning queens from seasons past. The organization revealed on Tuesday the lineup of films that will screen during the 10-day festival as well as the news that The Inspection filmmaker Elegance Bratton has been selected to receive the Fusion Achievement Award at the opening night gala on March 24.

The honor recognizes “an individual who has made a significant contribution to LGBTQ+ visibility in stories, arts and media,” per Outfest. Outfest Fusion will be celebrating its 20th anniversary by showcasing Lgbtqia+ filmmakers and their various films depicting queer and transgender stories. There will be nine features, including two 2023 Sundance documentaries, “Little Richard: I Am Everything” from Lisa Cortés and “The Stroll” from Kristen Lovell and Zackary Drucker. Cortés documentary explores how Richard “Little Richard” Penniman worked through his struggles with his sexuality, all while he made his mark on rock n’ roll. Exclusive: After nearly two seasons heavily struck by the pandemic, RuPaul’s Drag Race concluded its fourteenth season with an in-person finale extravaganza held at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas. Despite the return to the showy Drag Race pomp and circumstance, the Season 14 finale couldn’t quite match up to Season 13’s ratings.

Friday’s finale, which crowned Willow Pill America’s Next Drag Superstar, delivered 697,000 total viewers in Live+Sd. For comparison, the Season 13 ender in 2021 brought in 772,000 total viewers and marked the most-watched episode for the franchise since the Season 10 finale in 2018.

Willow Pill bested runner-up Lady Camden and fellow finalists Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Bosco and Daya Betty. Also walking away a winner was Kornbread “The Snack” Jeté, who won Miss Congeniality. Project Angel Food has signed a three-year deal with Ktla and City National Bank for its annual Lead With Love telethon. This year’s telethon will air on Ktla 5 at 7 p.m. Pt on July 23, with returning hosts Eric McCormack, Jessica Holmes, Loni Love and Alec Mapa.

Founded in 1989, Project Angel Food combats food insecurity in Los Angeles County by providing more than 1 million tailored meals each year to people in need. The two-hour telethon has raised 2 million for the organization since debuting in 2020, and previous telethons have featured performances from Kelly Clarkson, Annie Lennox and Gloria Estefan, as well as appearances from Elton John, Ringo Starr and Jamie Lee Curtis. Apple TV Plus has announced that the new dark comedy anthology series, “Roar,” will premiere all eight episodes April 15 on the streaming platform.

Based on a short story collection by Cecelia Ahern, the series tells futuristic and magical realism stories that mirror the common dilemmas of modern women in today’s world. The episodes will feature acclaimed actors including Nicole Kidman, Issa Rae, Merritt Wever, Cynthia Erivo, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Meera Syal, Fivel Stewart and Kara Hayward.

“Roar” is created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who showrun and executive produce alongside Kidman and Per Saari via Blossom Films; Bruna Papandrea, Steve Hutensky and Allie Goss for Made Up Stories; Ahern through Greenlight Go; and Theresa Park for Per Capita Productions. As revealed in VH1’s just-released trailer, the two-part Drag Race premiere (Jan. 7, 8/7c) kicks off with Lizzo making her werkroom debut as a special guest judge, followed by the arrival of Alicia Keys in Part 2 (Jan. 14).

Netflix debuted a trailer for Season 4 of “Cobra Kai,” which premieres on Dec. 31.

The series takes place more than 30 years after the events of the 1984 film “The Karate Kid,” which culminated in Daniel Larusso’s (Ralph Macchio) triumph against Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) at the All Valley Karate Tournament. Their rivalry lasts throughout the decades, but in Season 4, Daniel’s Miyagi-Do and Johnny’s Eagle Fang dojos join forces to take down the Cobra Kai dojo led by their enemy John Kreese (Martin Kove) at the All Valley Under 18 Karate Tournament.

“If Johnny and I can actually work together and we win, Cobra Kai will be out of business,” Daniel says to his wife Amanda (Courtney Henggeler) in the trailer, which you can watch below.

“You gotta take things to the next level,” Johnny says to his students. “Eagles do not respond. They swoop down and take whatever they want.

Peacock is getting into the holiday spirit with The Housewives of the North Pole, a new original movie starring Kyle Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad).

The highly-anticipated flick is set to launch on December 9 on the streaming service, and it looks like a lot of fun!

"The Christmas Queens of North Pole, Vermont, Trish (Kyle Richards) and Diana (Betsy Brandt), have won the Best Holiday House decorating competition every year for the past nine years," reads the intriguing synopsis.

Exclusive: The Just For Laughs comedy festival has revealed the participants and gameplan for its 2021 New Faces, its marquee discovery stand-up showcase that over the years has served as a launching pad for up-and-coming talent like Jimmy Fallon, Gabriel Iglesias, Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Ali Wong and Pete Davidson to name a few.

It is part of this year’s edition of the festival, which kicks off today and runs through Saturday featuring in-person stand-up shows in its home base of Montreal as well as for the first time shows in Los Angeles and New York City because of travel restrictions due to the pandemic.

Curtis made a $10,000 donation from her family foundation. A reading by Hollywood medium Tyler Henry went for $15,000.

City National Bank donated $100,000. Love presented her $25,000 winnings from a recent appearance on ABC’s “Celebrity Family Feud” to the organization.

Eric McCormack is joining Ktla anchor Jessica Holmes to host a Project Angel Food live telethon on July 17.

The station will broadcast the event, called Lead with Love 2021, from 7 Pm to 9 Pm, and it will be streamed live on Hulu, as well as the Ktla and Project Angel Food websites.

The event is presented by City National Bank and will raise money for expanded Project Angel Food service, with a client base of 2,300 per day, compared to 1,500 per day before the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization was founded in response to the AIDS pandemic in 1989, and provides food delivery service to Los Angeles clients with critical illnesses including Covid.

Paramount+ revealed a handful of notable entertainers and personalities to join RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Carson Kressley and Ross Matthews behind the judges table for All Stars 6. Aisha Tyler, Big Freedia, Emma Roberts, Jamal Sims, Justin Simien, Tia Mowry and Zaldy will step behind the panel to read the returning queens.

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, which will premiere Thursday, June 24 on Paramount+, will also feature guest appearances from Alec Mapa, Angela Bassett, Cheyenne Jackson, Fortune Feimster, Jermaine Fowler, Miss Piggy and Tanya Tucker.

Returning queens, including Silky Nutmeg Ganache, Eureka O’Hara and Jiggly Caliente, will compete for a spot in the “Drag Race Hall of Fame” and a cast prize of $100,000.

Netflix announced that “I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson” will return for Season 2 on July 6.

The sketch comedy series, which delivered some of TV’s most memeable moments, brings Robinson’s absurdist humor to life’s most bizarre and mundane situations.

“I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson” is created and written by Robinson and Zach Kanin and executive produced by Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone (The Lonely Island), alongside Ali Bell, Alex Bach, Dan Powell and Alice Mathias, who directs with Kanin.

Apple TV Plus announced that “The Snoopy Show” will return with seven new episodes on July 9. The children’s animated series follows America’s favorite beagle and his feathered friend Woodstock, with each episode consisting of three, seven-minute stories.

ABC believes that its year-round development cycle will mean that it can give creators of pilots such as Kevin Costner’s National Parks and Epic from Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis a better shot of landing on the schedule.

The Disney-owned network still has a number of pilot projects in various states of production and ABC chief Craig Erwich told Deadline that it will “continue to evaluate” these dramas.

This comes after it handed series pickups for the 2021/22 broadcast season to pilots The Wonder Years, Queens, Maggie and Abbott Elementary and passed on pilots including Sam Esmail’s Acts of Crime and comedies Black Don’t Crack and Bucktown.

A dream comedy duo is getting a rude awakening: ABC has scrapped plans for a sitcom starring Alec Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer, according to our sister site Deadline, even though the network had previously given it a straight-to-series order.

The decision to nix the untitled multi-cam comedy was made “after the network’s executives saw the finished pilot episode,” Deadline reports. The series would’ve starred Baldwin and Grammer (both winners of multiple Emmys for their runs on 30 Rock and Frasier, respectively) as two of three men — former roommates in their twenties whose “warring egos drove them apart” — who...

Alec Baldwin and Kelsey Grammer’s comedy will not be moving forward at ABC and is being shopped elsewhere. The straight-to-series order, which also had Alec Mapa attached to star, was scrapped after network executives saw the completed pilot episode, directed by James Burrows. ABC had been lining up the half-hour series for the 2021-22 season.

Per the logline, the untitled multi-camera series revolves around three men who were roommates in their 20s until their warring egos drove them apart. Now, the trio is reuniting decades later for one more run at the lives they’ve always wanted.

The series will mark Baldwin’s first major broadcast role since “30 Rock.” Grammer, most known for his roles in “Frasier” and “Cheers,” had most recently appeared in an episode of the CBS comedy “Carol’s Second Act,” after starring in the 2019 Fox legal drama “Proven Innocent,” which was canceled after only a single season.
