During the war he took part in the September Campaign. During the occupation, he performed at the Puppet and Actor Theater in Grodno, and after returning to Warsaw, he started working at the Sugar Bank.

He was the oldest living male actor in Poland.

For most of his professional life he was associated with the Polish Theater in Warsaw, where he played almost 100 roles.

Maciejewski made his theater debut in 1938 as Janusz in Halka.

He was awarded the Golden Cross of Merit (1967).

In 1947 he passed the extramural examination and a year later he moved to Lódz and became involved in the Polish Army Theater run by Leon Schiller.

He created nearly 100 roles here. among others: Journalist and Wernyhora in Wyspianski's "The Wedding", King in Jarry's "Ubu the King", Don Fernando in Corneille's "Cid", Marquise Ricardo in Lope de Vega's "Gardener's Dog", Rembo in "Ladies and Hussars" Fredro, Jankiel in "Pan Tadeusz" by Mickiewicz, Jakub in "Zywota Józefa" by Rej, Pozarski in "Chlopce" by Grochowiak.

In 1936 he went to study singing in Warsaw. He studied at the Opera Studio at the Warsaw Opera. He made his opera debut in 1938 as Janusz in Stanislaw Moniuszko's Halka.

In the years 1949 - 1999 he was associated with the Polish Theater in Warsaw. (with a short break: 1956-59 at the Dramatic Theatre).

From 1941, he lived in Warsaw, working at the Sugar Bank and studying at the underground studio of Iwo Gall. After the fall of the uprising, he went to Krakow, where he joined Gall's new studio, which he graduated in 1946.

Hereceived the Medal of the 10th Anniversary (1955), the Medal of the 30th Anniversary (1975) and the Medal of the 4th Anniversary of the People's Republic of Poland (1985) as well as the Golden Badge of Honor - for Merits for Warsaw.

He graduated from high school in Kielce in 1935. After passing his final exams, he was appointed to the Reserve Cadets School in Zambrów.

He took part in the September Campaign as a platoon commander. He was seriously wounded near Lwów. After leaving the hospital, he went into hiding.

He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1975), the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1987) and the Medal for the Defensive War of 1939 (1987).

An important element of his career was playing at the Television Theatre, with which he staged 40 performances from 1958 to 1998.

He was also a dubbing actor - his last performance was the voiceover in the Polish version of the film "Life of Pi", earlier he participated in recording the dubbing for the Polish version of "Twelve Angry People".

He appeared in many important films, such as Andrzej Wajda's Kanal, where he played Lieutenant Gustaw, or Krzysztof Kieslowski's Short Film About Killing.

Maciejewski was also the longest-lived Polish actor - he lived 1 year longer than the previous record holder actress Danuta Szaflarska and two years longer than actress Irena Renard.

He was also associated with the Polish Radio Theatre, where he worked for over 50 years - from 1951 to 2003.
