Played sister to her real-life brother Leif Garrett in the Cannon (1971) episode Death Is a Double-Cross (1971); they also acted together in the Circle of Fear episode Doorway to Death.

Daughter of Rik Nervik and Carolyn Stellar. Daughter-in-law of Bill Reese. Younger sister of Leif Garrett; she co-starred with him in the Wonder Woman (1975) episode My Teenage Idol Is Missing (1978), playing a girl with a crush on the singer. The two also starred as siblings in all three original "Walking Tall" films. Their mother, Carolyn Stellar, appeared as a nurse in Part 2: Walking Tall (1975).

During the filming of Shoot Out (1971) when she was seven, Gregory Peck saved her from a fall and potential serious injury while they were rehearsing the scene in which Decky jumps onto the caboose of a moving train.

Had a German Shepherd named Thor as a child after a kidnap threat: a prison escapee claimed to be Dawn's father and threatened to kidnap her and flee the country. Dawn's mom was notified by a relative who knew the man; he was caught soon after.

In July 2006 she and her husband moved to Hawaii because of his job transfer. She has her own small motorcycle but also enjoys riding on the back of her husband's Harley. She also enjoys hiking, snorkeling, reading, and watching movies with her husband.

On October 13, 2022, Lyn was hospitalized for five days for brain surgery to reduce a non-malignant tumor. Lyn developed bacterial meningitis after she was released from the hospital and fell into coma on October 22. Lyn was comatose in ICU for a month before regaining consciousness. As of September 2023, she was still recovering.
