Strikingly beautiful and immensely talented, Mexican singer Dora Luz was a popular radio and stage performer from the late 1930s to the mid-1940s. She recorded her hits (more than 20 songs, including "Falsa" and "Prisionero del mar") for the Victor label and, after performing at nightclubs in Mexican cities, began touring the United States. She sang at prominent restaurants, hotels, and nightclubs in Los Angeles, Omaha, Chicago, and other cities before Walt Disney brought her to Hollywood to appear and sing "You Belong to My Heart" (Agustín Lara's "Solamente una vez") in The Three Caballeros (1944). She also appeared in a Mexican musical, Su gran ilusión (1945), and sang the title song for another Disney project, Destino (2003).
