Yellowstone Season 5B debut is now the show’s biggest launch to date.
According to Paramount Global, the premiere episode amassed more than 21M viewers in the three days post-debut, up 29% from its live + same-day audience, to be the best premiere night ever in the U.S. for Yellowstone.
At first glance, a 29% lift might seem a bit like small potatoes, but it’s very clear that Yellowstone had a strong same-night draw, as the series already returned to its biggest premiere night audience ever with 16.4M viewers last Sunday. The three-day numbers just seem to be the icing on the cake.
As Paramount is still locked in a battle with Nielsen, these numbers are a combination of internal data from Paramount+, based on active sub households, as well as linear figures provided by VideoAmp for the initial CBS and encore airings. Since is not possible for Paramount to determine...

Hollywood friendships are full of unexpected twists. In the blink of an eye, friends that seemed solid can get sour, especially in the high-stakes world of entertainment. Such celebrities are no strangers to fallouts and feuds, and sometimes, the most surprising conflicts can be the ones that end up in lawsuits. This is exactly what happened with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan and the show’s rugged cowboy, Cole Hauser.
The feud between Sheridan and Hauser in 2023 left fans stunned when the former slapped Hauser with a lawsuit over his coffee brand, Free Rein. Once the perfect team behind one of TV’s biggest neo-Westerns, Sheridan and Hauser’s partnership hit rocky road. It raised questions about Hauser’s character, Rip Wheller’s future, in Yellowstone’s finale and the 6666 spin-off.

On June 20, 2018, Paramount Network aired the first episode of a neo-Western drama television series called Yellowstone – and a megahit franchise was born. Lately, news regarding the franchise has been focused on what’s coming further down the line. We’ve been hearing casting announcements about the spin-off series The Madison and 1923, and we’ve heard that the flagship show, which was said to be ending with “season 5, part 2,” might continue with a sixth season after all… but before we get there, we still need to see Yellowstone season 5, part 2, which has a premiere date of Sunday, November 10th at 8pm Et/Pt. With the premiere dates almost upon us, JoBlo’s own Chris Bumbray had to the chance to sit down for interviews with Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), and Gil Birmingham (Thomas Rainwater), and you can find out what they had to say about Yellowstone...

Of the many things that make Yellowstone special is the chronicle of Rip and Beth. Despite the complex ups and downs that the Duttons have experienced, these two characters have endured and become a consistent, if not one of the most impressive, part of the series. Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western offers a lot of variety, but Rip and Beth are the dynamic duo that people keep returning to.

In a different world and a different time, Cole Hauser might not have slipped into Rip Wheeler’s shoes and Kelly Reilly may not have been the muse for Sheridan’s teflon-coated heroine. As the season finale for Yellowstone approaches, Hauser reveals that he came really close to nabbing a different part in the series, and it is very difficult to imagine Rip being played by anyone other than him.

Rip Wheeler is one of the most important characters in "Yellowstone." The ranch foreman, played by Cole Hauser, became part of the Dutton family after Kevin Costner's John Dutton III adopted him. Over time, Rip became an integral part of the Dutton ranch operation, overseeing other ranch hands, carrying out illicit activities for John, and marrying the Dutton patriarch's daughter, Beth (Kelly Reilly).
Behind the scenes, Hauser's "Yellowstone" tenure has been almost as dramatic as Rip's on-screen story. The actor once got into a physical fight with series creator Taylor Sheridan, who in 2023 also sued Hauser over his coffee company, Free Rein, because the logo looked too much like Sheridan's own company logo (it really did look similar). The suit was ultimately dropped, but it's clear that Hauser and Sheridan's relationship has been testy at best.

The Dutton family civil war in Yellowstone breaks out into open warfare in the official trailer for the second half of season five.
“I can’t do this anymore,” anxious cattle rancher’s daughter Beth Dutton, played by Kelly Reilly, says at one point in the trailer. “Well, you’re gonna have to, honey. Or we’re gonna lose this place,” her ranch hand husband, Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), warns her as the Paramount Network drama makes its long-awaiting return after the first five episodes of season five ended back in January 2023.
“This war is just beginning,” says Kevin Costner, who is not returning after his high-profile exit from the Yellowstone ranch as John Dutton, and yet appears very much in the trailer in scenes likely to wrap his character. In a major cast disruption, Costner left the show after the fifth season hiatus for Yellowstone, partly to focus on his Horizon film saga.

There are a million ways to die in the west — John Dutton is facing a few-thousand possible demises.
On Tuesday, Paramount Network released the full, official trailer for the second half of “Yellowstone” Season 5, aka the final part of the show’s final season. Season 5-b, as we’ve collectively decided to tag these split seasons, premieres Sunday, November 10 at 8/7c on Paramount Network. It should be appointment-viewing for fans of the series — who knows how many episodes Kevin Costner has left?
Costner, as you’ll recall, had a major falling out with series co-creator Taylor Sheridan. Between the scheduling conflicts, lengthy delays, threatened lawsuits, and general bickering, it’s been about as messy as their on-screen drama. The long and the short of it is that nobody, including Costner, expects Dutton to make it very deep into the show’s final episodes.

The crown jewel of Taylor Sheridan's television empire is finally back and better than ever before ... or almost, at least. The expansive Western series has been a streaming favorite for several years running now, constantly pulling in the kinds of numbers that other shows could only ever look upon with envy. With Sheridan's writing, a sprawling cast, and star Kevin Costner leading the charge as John Dutton, what could possibly go wrong? Well, a little extracurricular drama behind the scenes resulting in America's dad parting ways with "Yellowstone" and the subsequent news that the show's fifth season would also be its final one (setting aside the recent rumors of a potential season 6 for the moment) ended up throwing a wrench into things. Bummer!
Not that you would know any of that if you were to watch the first official trailer for "Yellowstone" season 5, part 2, however. The nostalgic footage...

Yellowstone season 5, part 2, has a premiere date of Sunday, November 10 at 8pm Et/Pt. The trailer for “Yellowstone” Season 5 Part 2 is finally here, almost two years after Part 1 wrapped up way back in January 2023.
The deeply American cowboy series returns on November 10. The beloved show became a popular sensation as the most-watched cable TV show for two summers in a row in 2018 and 2019. By 2023, when the first part of this season premiered on Paramount Network, 8.8 million people tuned in to view the show. Simulcasts across Country Music Television, TV Land, and Pop TV brought that number up to 10.5 million.
The drama stars Kevin Costner, who won a Golden Globe for his role but has since departed the series. Costner plays the big-time Montana rancher and patriarch of the Dutton family alongside Kelly Reilly, who plays his daughter and business partner; Wes Bentley, who embodies his not-so-trustworthy son Jamie; Luke Grimes, who personifies his complex cowboy son Kayce; and Cole Hauser as his right-hand man,...

Fans of ‘Yellowstone’ will officially be saying their goodbyes to the show with the second part of season 5. While there were reports a season 6 was being discussed, the talks seem to have been dropped in favor of the modern-day spinoff ‘The Madison.’
Before ‘The Madison,’ reports had stated that series creator Taylor Sheridan was working on a new script, which will be led by Matthew McConaughey. Sadly, this seems not to be the case anymore and I’m yet to fully come to terms with that.
Happily, we’ve been promised a lot of great things when it comes to ‘The Madison,’ so much so we can’t help but wait patiently for it to drop.

Ben Schnetzer is the latest addition to the cast of the “Yellowstone” spinoff series “The Madison,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Schnetzer will appear in Taylor Sheridan’s new series alongside previously announced cast members Michelle Pfeiffer, Patrick J. Adams, Elle Chapman, Matthew Fox, Beau Garrett and Amiah Miller. Schnetzer will play Van, described as “a salt-of-the-earth and neighborly Montana rancher.”
“The Madison” was previously in development under the title “2024.” Per the official logline, the show is a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.” It is not yet clear if the show will debut exclusively on Paramount+ or start off on Paramount Network like “Yellowstone.”
Schnetzer was recently cast alongside Lily James in the upcoming biopic about the founder of Bumble. He has also wrapped production on the feature “The Yellow Tie,” a biopic about renowned Romanian conductor Sergiu Celibidache.

Taylor Sheridan's and John Linson's "Yellowstone" premiered on Paramount+ in 2018 and has proven to be one of the network's biggest hits. To day, the show has run 47 episodes over five seasons and spawned the spinoffs "1883" and "1923." Starring Kevin Costner, "Yellowstone" takes place on the Dutton family ranch in modern-day Montana. The ranch borders Yellowstone National Park, hence the name, while the actual series follows the soap-opera-like drama of the Duttons as well as characters on the neighboring Broken Rock Indian Reservation. Such a reservation is fictional, but the series is accurate in depicting Crow people living there.
Sheridan, who grew up on ranches, pitched "Yellowstone" as a "Godfather"-like family epic, complete with crime and corruption. The characters all resort to increasingly dark actions to make the ranch successful. Because "Yellowstone" was such a hit, Sheridan was able to purchase 270,000 acres (!) of Texas land, and one would...

Paramount’s neo-Western drama TV series, Yellowstone, went on to spawn two spin-off series that became incredibly popular. Unfortunately, even though the parent show started the entire craze for the Dutton family, it did not sustain the audience’s love.
In comparison to 1883 and 1923, the original series did not gain as much fame as its prequels. In a bizarre turn of events, the show that started the franchise became its weakest link. There are various aspects of the show that even Kevin Costner’s brilliant acting couldn’t overshadow. Fans of the show claimed it wouldn’t be able to maintain its luster in coming years.
What caused this opinion from Yellowstone fans?
Yellowstone was created by Taylor Sheridan and John Linson and on its premiere in 2018, the series received average response. Subsequent seasons added to its hype and soon it became popular which led to the onset of two spin-offs or prequels.

Yellowstone cast members Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Cole Hauser, and Kelsey Asbille take fans on a look behind-the-scenes in the new featurette from the set. The two-minute video reveals that not even the cast were aware of what their co-stars’ storylines were for part two of season five. It was all very hush-hush on the set, and the actors received scripts that had large redacted areas. No one wanted to spoil the experience for fans who’ve been waiting two long years for the second half of the final season to arrive.
The first episode of part two premieres on Paramount Network and CBS on Sunday, November 10, 2024.

The season five return of Yellowstone is so secretive that not even the cast knows how it’s all going to play out. The show’s stars revealed on Friday that the back half of the season came with redacted scripts so the actors would only know their own lines, eliciting real-time reactions in some cases as they filmed the show’s return, which is in production in Montana and airs later this fall.
“This season has been very secretive,” says Kelsey Asbille, who plays Monica Dutton, in a revealing video tease released by Paramount Network on Friday (below) that includes interviews with the main castmembers who make up the Dutton family — Kelly Reilly, Wes Bentley, Luke Grimes and Cole Hauser. Star Kevin Costner, who played patriarch John Dutton, famously exited the series ahead of the final run, and how the show will handle his storyline remains under lock and key.

CBS has roped in a bonus broadcast airing of the the long-awaited “Yellowstone” return. The Eye network will air the premiere of Season 5’s part 2 — the show’s first original episode in nearly two years — on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 10 p.m. Et.
That reps a quick secondary broadcast window for the episode, which premieres on the Paramount Network earlier that evening at 8 p.m. Et. The CBS airing will preempt that night’s originally scheduled episode of “The Equalizer,” and will air following an episode of CBS’ hit “Tracker.”
In other parts of the globe, “Yellowstone” returns on Paramount+ in Canada on Nov. 10 and in the U.K. on Nov. 11. The show will be back on Paramount+ in Latin America, Brazil and France at a later date.
CBS viewers are no strangers to “Yellowstone,” of course, as the Eye network has previously aired repeats episodes from the hit series’ first three seasons.

They say, “You can’t judge a book by its cover”, but if you’re watching Yellowstone, it’s hard not to see the plot’s hidden pages—especially those lifted straight from The Godfather. Taylor Sheridan’s hit TV series has long sported its influences like a cowboy wearing spurs, and now, even the most casual viewers are spotting the family feud parallels with Francis Ford Coppola’s legendary mafia saga.

And for those scratching their heads, here’s a nugget of trivia: Sheridan’s original pitch for Yellowstone as ‘The Godfather in Montana’ didn’t exactly knock the socks off HBO executives. But against all odds, the show has transformed skeptics into devoted fans. And just when you thought the drama was at its peak, Sheridan’s gearing up to bring us the fifth and final season by this year’s end.

Kevin Costner is back on the ranch for the second part of “Yellowstone” Season 5.
What is believed to be Costner’s character John Dutton’s exit is set to debut this fall. However, alleged lawsuits and conflicting reports, Costner may very well be back once more for the Taylor Sheridan-created series.

“Yellowstone” is focusing on its legacy – one without Kevin Costner – in the first teaser for the second half of Season 5. Paramount Network dropped this first look ahead of the series’ return on Nov. 10.
Though this upcoming installment will be the first without Costner, the teaser begins with John Dutton.
“Legacy — you build something worth having, and someone is going to try and take it,” the family patriarch says. As he speaks, the camera shows a dramatic shot of his son Jamie (Wes Bentley).
The teaser then takes off in earnest. “What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us,” Rip (Cole Hauser) says. Later, a woman who looks like Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) can be seen pulling out a knife. The rest of the video shows a combination of FBI raids, ranchers on horseback and threatening phone calls between Jamie and Beth. Watch the first teaser...

With that date still a couple months away, a batch of first look images, and a very quick teaser (which still features A Lot of Kevin Costner) from the new episodes have arrived online. Taylor Sheridan’s hit Yellowstone will likely not be ending with Season 5. Deadline has confirmed that negotiations are underway for a sixth season of the flagship drama to be headlined by Yellowstone standouts Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser.
