Her entire dialogue in Resident Evil: Retribution was dubbed by Sally Cahill who voiced Ada Wong in the video games.

Li's first big break came in 1999 when she played a kindhearted cop in the film "Seventeen Years" (Guo nian hui jia). This film won her the Best Asian Actress award in the 2000 Singapore International Film Festival.

In 2009, she was named a WWF Earth Hour Global Ambassador.

She initially wanted to become a schoolteacher, but later found a desire to act.

She was born in Wuchang, Heilongjiang, China and raised with a younger sister, Li Xue.
