Curtis Levy is an independent filmmaker whose films have been shown widely throughout the world and have won many international awards. Recent films include
The Matilda Candidate, which follows the hilarious journey taken by Curtis Levy as he stands for election to the Australian parliament, and The President Versus David Hicks, about the Australian Taliban fighter, David Hicks (AFI Award for Best Documentary Film and Logie for Best Documentary Film), and Hephzibah (Silver Wolf Award for Best Video Documentary at International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, AFI Award for Best Documentary Film and the Film Critics Circle of Australia Award for Best Documentary Film). He has made many films in Indonesia including High Noon in Jakarta, an intimate portrait of Abdurrachman Wahid, the first democratically elected president of Indonesia. His film Breakout about the mass suicidal breakout of Japanese prisoners-of-war from their camp in Cowra in New South Wales, won the Award for Best Television Documentary at the Chicago International Film Festival
