- Rem Lebedev was a Russian character actor known as Father Fedor in 12 stulyev (1966) by director Aleksandr Belinsky.
He was born Rem Fedorovich Lebedev on 30 November 1928, in Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Russia. From 1945 to 1948 he studied acting at the Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music, and Cinema, graduating in 1948 as actor. That same year he joined the troupe at the Leningrad Theatre for Young Audiences and worked there until 1973.
From 1974 to 1988 he was a permanent member of the troupe and the leading actor of the Pushkin Drama Theatre in Leningrad (St. Petersburg). There his stage partners were such remarkable actors as Igor Gorbachyov, Ivan Dmitriev, Vasiliy Merkurev, Nikolay Fomenko, Yuriy Tolubeev, Aleksandr Borisov, Bruno Frejndlikh, Vladimir Chestnokov, Vladimir Erenberg, Konstantin Adashevsky, Olga Lebzak, Nina Mamaeva, Lidiya Shtykan, Nina Urgant, and other notable Russian actors. He made many memorable stage appearances in classic and contemporary plays, such as, the Shakespeare's Hamlet, "The Lower Depths" by Maxim Gorky and other plays.
Rem Lebedev was regarded for his stage works and was designated People's Actor of the USSR (1982). He was married to fellow actress Lyudmila Krasikova. Rem Lebedev died of a heart failure on 12 April, 1988, in St. Petersburg, and was laid to rest in Shuvalovskoe cemetery in St. Petersburg, Russia.
