Fritz Lang is a music producer and recordist/mixer with more than a few weeks experience making music and sound.
Starting professionally in the mid '70s at Dimensional Sound in NYC, recording and mixing various unknown bands and awful reissues of Jimi.
Fritz mentored with (the late) Kim King at Secret Sound. Kim had played guitar with Lothar and the Hand People and worked at Record Plant NYC as recordist/mixer and tech. Kim got the gig to record Live at CBGB and Fritz came along as his assistant. Fritz stayed at CBGB for a couple years.
Then onto US Blues nite club as front of house mixer for local and national acts.
Back to NYC, Fritz spent significant time at Sigma Sound with Jay Mark and Ken McKim. Up to Bearsville to tech with McKim for the rebuild of the main room and refurb of a Neve 8058.
Fritz next moved to Record Plant NY as a tech and assist on occasional sessions with Jay Messina, Roy Cicala, David Thoener, Shelly Yakus, John Agnello and others.
The next move was chief engineer and bottle washer at Long Island Sound Studio in Oyster Bay NY for a couple years. There he recorded many local bands on the custom MCI 416 nuculur console.
Fritz then co-designed and built Pipeline Recording in Glen Cove; while working for Record Plant Remote. Record Plant Remote became David Hewitts Remote Recording Services and he continued on there for a couple of years as tech. He worked on tour recordings of the Stones, U2 for Rattle and Hum, Springsteen and other unknown acts , as well as the films Ishtar and Light of Day.
Fritz next spent time touring Europe with Miles Davis, as a back line tech; and eating as much pastry and cappuccino as humanly possible. There were a few paellas and bottles of wine as well. Then back to Europe for some more touring with Michel Camilo and more eating and drinking. On this tour Fritz developed an expensive taste for inexpensive tapas .
In 1987, Fritz transitioned to television audio, first as front of house and production mixer, and later as a ProTools and playback editor. He continues as a Pro Tools and television production audio mixer while working towards his On-Line certification in astrophysics and carrot peeling.
