Lambro wrote the original score to Chinatown, but after the film previewed poorly the studio decided to remove his score entirely and hired Jerry Goldsmith to write a replacement in only 10 days. Part of Lambro's score was used in the film's trailer, with Paramount agreeing to allow him to release the music as an album provided it used a different title. It was not until 2012 that the score was finally released as 'Los Angeles, 1937.'.
