Henry La Cossit

Henry La Cossitt was a newspaper correspondent, magazine writer, radio
commentator and at one time editor of Colliers Magazine. He was born on
24 September, 1899 at Homestead, Pennsylvania, the son of Henry and
Nellie Truesdell De La Cossitt. His father had a medical practice in
Homestead for a number of years. Not long before he embarked on his
literary career, La Cossitt worked as a deck hand on the SS Carengo on
its voyage between New York and Valencia, Spain.
Henry De La Cossitt Jr. died of cancer on 2 December, 1962 at Washington D.C. He was survived by his wife, the former Lois Ann Hackett and at least one daughter. At the time of his death he was working as a government lobbyist for Gulf Oil.
