- Erich Kästner was born on February 23, 1899 in Dresden, Germany. He was a writer and actor, known for The Parent Trap (1998), Das doppelte Lottchen (1950) and Emil and the Detectives (1931). He died on July 29, 1974 in Munich, Bavaria, West Germany.
- Poet, satirist, screenwriter and author of children's books, the son of a saddle maker. His best-known works were the oft-filmed "Emil and the Detectives" and "The Parent Trap".
