Eight for Silver is a horror movie that was originally released in 2021 under the title The Cursed. Directed by Sean Ellis, it stars Boyd Holbrook, Kelly Reilly, and Alistair Petrie and takes place in the late 19th century, centring around a small village in France where a series of brutal murders have taken place. The locals are convinced that a pack of wolves is responsible for the killings, but a British pathologist, John McBride (Holbrook), arrives to investigate and discovers that something far more sinister is at play.
One of the strengths of Eight for Silver is its visual style. The movie is shot in a dark, atmospheric manner that perfectly captures the eerie and foreboding mood of the story.

Elaine Hendrix is revisiting her most iconic movie character - and has fans questioning if "The Parent Trap"'s Meredith Blake is actually a villain. Hendrix, 51, posted a TikTok on July 21 to mark the 24th anniversary of the 1998 film's release one day prior. In the video, Hendrix pours herself a glass of wine while participating in the popular app's "He's a 10 but" challenge.
As Hendrix enjoys her glass of red, text on the screen reads, "He's a 10 but . . . It was quite the week for British politics, with the scandal leading to former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s resignation briefly making America look tame by comparison.
After it was revealed that the controversial politician had promoted a member of Parliament to a senior whipping position despite knowledge of sexual misconduct allegations against the man, Johnson faced a series of high profile defections and resignations within his party. Though he resisted calls to resign for as long as he could — as he had done in the past — the resignations ultimately snowballed until he could no longer remain in power.
In the entertainment world, his resignation immediately prompted speculation that “This England,” an upcoming Sky miniseries starring Kenneth Branagh as Johnson, would be forced to shoot additional scenes. The show generated some buzz when it released the first footage of Johnson as Branagh, and many thought that the creative team would...

"You will all pay for the sins made by our elders." Ld Entertainment has unveiled an official trailer for the film The Cursed, which is the new titled for the horror thriller called Eight for Silver. This premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival under the Eight for Silver titled, received mixed reviews with some bits of praise. In rural 19th-century France, a mysterious, possibly supernatural menace threatens a small village. John McBride, a pathologist, comes to town to investigate -- and exorcise some of his own demons in the process. This is a werewolf film, which isn't so much of a spoiler, because it's a "reimagining" meaning the mythology is not what you're expecting. You'll have to watch to find out what that means! Starring Boyd Holbrook, with Kelly Reilly, Alistair Petrie, Roxane Duran, Nigel Betts, Stuart Bowman, Simon Kunz, and Amelia Crouch. I caught this last year and it's solid,...

Charles Condomine (Dan Stevens) is plagued by writer’s block—so much so that his wife Ruth (Isla Fisher) talked her film producer father (Simon Kunz’s Henry Mackintosh) into paying him to adapt his best-selling detective novel debut into a screenplay. The hope is that an easy task without the need for new ideas will get the creative (and sexual) juices flowing again so that they can push their beds together and maybe even cross the Atlantic to Hollywood. No matter how supportive Ruth has been, however, Charles still can’t muster more than an all-caps “Help” upon the page before losing himself to another temper tantrum. If only his muse was by his side: the first Mrs. Condomine (Leslie Mann’s Elvira), who tragically died seven years prior.

"The moon is full and we must harness its power." IFC Films has released a new US trailer for the kooky relationship comedy Blithe Spirit, a big screen adaptation of the classic stage play of the same name. This opens first in the UK this month, then in the US in February. An over-the-top spiritualist medium holds a seance for a writer suffering from writers block but accidentally summons the spirit of his deceased first wife which leads to an increasingly complex love triangle with his current wife of five years. Described as a "riotous reimagining of Noël Coward's classic comedy, about love that just won't die." The delightfully wacky cast includes Dan Stevens, with Judi Dench as Madame Arcati, Isla Fisher, Leslie Mann, Emilia Fox, Callie Cooke, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Julian Rhind-Tutt, James Fleet, and Simon Kunz. This seems like a whole boat load of ridiculously goofy ghost fun.

Are you ready to return to Camp Walden? The Parent Trap cast finally reunited on July 20 for the first time since 1998, and the memories are sweeter than an Oreo covered in peanut butter. Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid, Elaine Hendrix, Lisa Ann Walter, Simon Kunz, and director Nancy Meyers hopped on a virtual call with Katie Couric to reminisce about the iconic film - and what's changed in the 22 years since it premiered.
We loved hearing Hendrix talk about the new generation that considers Meredith "#Goals" and finding out that Lohan still remembers the adorable handshake that we definitely tried to replicate with our friends. The cast also took a moment to remember the late Natasha Richardson, who died in 2009 as the result of a head injury, with Lohan saying that "Natasha had such an elegance and grace.

Chan plays a father who tries to get revenge when his daughter is killed in an Ira bombing, leading him right up to the politicians involved. The full cast includes Pierce Brosnan, Charlie Murphy, Katie Leung, Simon Kunz, Rory Fleck Byrne, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Stephen Hogan, and Dermot Crowley. This seems like an quietly intense story of a man who goes to war against everyone when no one else will do anything. Footage looks great, I'm totally in for this. Here's the first official trailer...

The Last Kingdom's blistering second series concludes with rousing action and tragic loss. Destiny is all!
This review contains spoilers.

As the rock music video genre teaches, fire makes everything twice as exciting. At least twice as exciting. That meant The Last Kingdom’s blazing denouement, in which the East Anglian fortress of Bumfluff burnt to the ground alongside Aethelflaed and Erik’s hope of a happy ending, was almost too thrilling. I had to defrost the freezer afterwards just to calm down.
The finale was bookended by a monologue on love. It gives a man strength, preached Father Pyrlig, often at the cost of his mind.
Hard cut to Alfred, a man freighted with the painful choice between the safety of his country and that of his daughter. He chose to pay the ransom,...

New Son Of God movie delivered a mediocre version of Jesus' story & more. 20th Century Fox released their new drama flick, "Son Of God," into theaters this weekend. I just checked it out, and thought it was pretty mediocre at best. I actually thought the 2000 TV version ,named "Jesus," delivered a much better version of the Jesus story. This one stars: Diogo Morgado, Greg Hicks, Adrian Schiller, Darwin Shaw, Sebastian Knapp, Joe Wredden, Simon Kunz, Paul Marc Davis, Matthew Gravelle, Amber Rose Revah, and Roma Downey. Basically, this movie was just another rehashed telling of the story of Jesus the Christ, and it really came off that way. It showed his humble birth and all of his most popular miracles he performed like healing the crippled man, finding all the fish in the water, raising Lazarus from the dead ,and more. We also saw the drama he incurred with Pharisees,...

Each Christmas and Easter season, History and other cablenets air a number of documentaries on various aspects of the Bible, usually featuring talking-head experts and iffy-looking dramatic re-creations.
Often these productions take a skeptical look at the historicity or accuracy or veracity of biblical accounts, as if the last thing in the world a documentary would want to be seen doing is taking anything in the Bible at face value.
But skepticism was the last thing on the minds of reality TV mogul Mark Burnett ("The Apprentice," "Survivor") and his wife, actress Roma Downey ("Touched by an Angel"), when they set out as executive producers of "The Bible," airing Sundays from March 3 to March 31, which is Easter Sunday this year.
