Saydo Kurbanov is a Soviet, Tajik and Russian theater and film actor, director. Honored Artist of the Russian Federation. Since 1965 he became an actor at the Tajikfilm studio. In 1975 he graduated from VGIK, directing department, workshop of Igor Talankin and Efim Dzigan. His directorial debut was the film Zolotaya strela (1980), which received the prize of the All-Union Sports Film Festival in Frunze (Kyrgyzstan) 'For the best directorial debut'. In 1991-2004 he worked at the Magnitogorsk Drama Theater. Since 2016 at the Sevastopol Russian Drama Theater named after Anatoli Lunacharsky.
His work in cinema brought him wide fame. He began acting in 1968. Saydo played his first leading role in 1976 in the children's fairy tale film Otvazhnyy shirak (1977). The star role for the actor was the role of the Thief of Baghdad in the film Glyadi veseley (1984) directed by Marat Aripov based on the novel 'The Enchanted Prince' by Leonid Solovyov.
