Lived in Quickborn for many years, now resides in Hamburg-Wellingsbüttel with his wife.

Studied architecture in Hamburg until his breakthrough as singer and comedian with the album "Mein Gott, Walter" (1975).

Played on four movies with Thomas Gottschalk as one half of the "supernoses" duo: Piratensender Power Play (1982), Die Supernasen (1983), Zwei Nasen tanken Super (1984) and Die Einsteiger (1985).
