Ilya Kravchunovskiy is a Soviet director and screenwriter.
In 1916 he entered the medical faculty of Moscow State University, from which he graduated in 1919. In 1916, Kravchunovskiy first tried himself as an actor - he performed plays in various student troupes of Moscow State University. In 1918, he staged a play for the first time at the Simonov Education Club, and from 1918 to 1919 he headed the theater department at the Moscow Proletkult. In 1919, due to the outbreak of the Civil War in the Russian SFSR, he was drafted into the Red Army and was demobilized in 1920. After demobilization, he entered the directing courses at Proletkult, which he graduated in 1924, while at the same time heading the arts department there. In cinema since 1924, he became part of the Goskino film studio, where he was an assistant director and production director, also wrote a number of scripts for cinema.
