The company Kino Lorber previously announced that they will be releasing John Candy’s 80s comedy, Summer Rental, on 4K Blu-ray in January. The boutique label has now announced that the following month another beloved John Candy movie will be having a new physical video remastering. Blu-ray.com has revealed that Uncle Buck will get its own Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray release on February 18. This film was a much bigger hit for Candy and is seen as one of his best movies. This is also the film that would give Hughes the idea to write Home Alone with Macaulay Culkin in mind.
The movie stars John Candy, Amy Madigan, Jean Louisa Kelly, Gaby Hoffmann and Macaulay Culkin. The Description reads, “When Cindy (Elaine Bromka) and her husband, Bob (Garrett M. Brown), have to leave town for a family emergency, there is only one person available to babysit for their three kids: Bob’s lazy,...

"What were you doing in my house?" "I heard a scream." Vertical Entertainment has debuted the official trailer for a low-key thriller titled The Neighbor, from director Aaron Harvey. The indie drama stars the very talented character actor William Fichtner (last seen in 12 Strong, Elysium, The Lone Ranger, Drive Angry, The Dark Knight) as a reserved man stuck in a stagnant marriage whose life is upended when an attractive young woman and her husband move in to the home next door to them. The cast includes Jessica McNamee, Jean Louisa Kelly, Michael Rosenbaum, Colin Woodell, and Erich Anderson. I can't tell if there's a big twist in this, but it seems like a solidly engaging friendly-neighbor thriller. Check it out. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Aaron Harvey's The Neighbor, direct from YouTube: A middle-aged man (William Fichtner) in a stagnant marriage becomes voyeuristically obsessed with an...

If speaks to Docklands Studios CEO Rod Allan about strengthening connections in La, working with HBO on Season 3 of 'The Leftovers' and gearing up for 'Winchester'.
How did you go in La for Ausfilm week?
A lot of these productions have long lead times, so it.s very unusual to go over there and meet someone who has a production ready. That doesn.t happen. What happens is the producers usually explore a number of options for Australia. It.s much more a relationship-building exercise. When we went to Ausfilm week last October, The Leftovers was not on the horizon. It wasn.t until March this year that they came out and subsequently we made the booking, and they.ve shot and wrapped since then.

John Candy stars in John Hughes' big-hearted comedy as the eponymous oaf who has to babysit his brother's kids: difficult teenager Tia (Jean Louisa Kelly), cute little Maizy (Gaby Hoffman), and the perpetually inquisitive Miles (a pre-Home Alone Macaulay Culkin). Candy's trademark grown-up-who-never-grew-up act provides the perfect launch pad for domestic chaos and some cracking banter, topped by Miles' quickfire interrogation about Buck's personal life.

On Aug. 16, one of cinema's best babysitting adventures, Uncle Buck, will celebrate its 25th anniversary.
The John Hughes comedy tells the story of the Russell family; mom and dad need someone to look after their three kids Asap. Short on options, Uncle Buck – a sloppy and crass city dweller – is recruited at the last minute. Expertly played by the late John Candy, Buck tackles giant pancakes, power drills and a game of endless questions with Macaulay Culkin, proving crazy uncles have some serious skills.
A quarter of a century later, Uncle Buck still brings the laughs and warm, fuzzy feelings.

Sept. 12, 2012 - "Wizards of Waverly Place" actor David Henrie scored the inspirational sports drama 1000 to 1: The Cory Weissman Story. He'll get a real chance to show off his acting chops: it's a true story about a high school basketball star who suffers a stroke. The teen's wish is to participate in a basketball game just one more time, just to hold the ball in his hands as a part of a game. Michael Levin will direct the indie which starts production in Pennsylvania next month.

Chicago – John Hughes’s creative peak in the 1980s was brought about by a great deal of writing in a very small period of time. According to legend, Hughes wrote the script for his 1986 cult classic, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” in only seven days while under the threat of a writer’s strike. He was gifted at churning out films, but his prolific nature caused him to noticeably repeat himself.
Like “Home Alone,” the box office monster that ultimately tarnished Hughes’s career, “Bueller” is an infectiously silly exercise in wish fulfillment. It lacks much of the insight that fueled his influential portraits of adolescent hell (such as his lovely debut, “Sixteen Candles”), opting for a cartoonish battle of wits between a smart-aleck student, Ferris (Matthew Broderick), and his vengeful principal (Jeffrey Jones). The film often plays like a Wile E. Coyote/Road Runner cartoon crossed with a Chicago travelogue,...
Like “Home Alone,” the box office monster that ultimately tarnished Hughes’s career, “Bueller” is an infectiously silly exercise in wish fulfillment. Just Go with It – Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Brooklyn Decker
Justin Bieber: Never Say Never – Justin Bieber, Boys II Men, Miley Cyrus

Movie of the Week
The Eagle
The Stars: Channing Tatum, Jamie Bell, Donald Sutherland
The Plot: In Roman-ruled Britain, a young Roman soldier endeavors to honor his father’s memory by finding his lost legion’s golden emblem.
The Buzz: It didn’t blow me away, but the trailer for The Eagle did make me want to check this one out in the theater. The cinematography and filming locales of The Eagle look to be fantastic. The score in the trailer was fairly derivative; standard music to augment the excitement and adventure that such a film promises.

With just a week to go until the Burn Notice summer finale, "Blind Spot" put viewers through a series of emotions.
We all knew at some point that Jesse was going to find out that Michael was involved with him being burned. I think we will all agree that this was pretty close to the worst way the discovery could have been made.
Seeing Michael running from his building on footage he got from an outside source does not bode well. But, wait Jesse fans, there is a spark of hope! Jesse chose to leave and not hurt Fiona, even though he promised to take down anyone involved with his burning.
Jesse is understandably angry with Michael, Fiona, and Sam. Who wouldn’t be? I am just hopeful that once he cools off a little bit, he realizes that Michael really has been trying to help get him back in.
