For Apc Studios, “The Eclipse,” an atmospheric, procedural mystery thriller set in a rural community on France’s Aubrac plateau, could well offer a winning formula for international buyers at the Unifrance Rendez-Vous in Le Havre and beyond.
The series turns on a mystery that originates during an evening eclipse when 17-year-old Luca accidentally shoots his girlfriend, Nour. When he leaves to seek help, the young girl disappears. Manue and Johanna, two local women cops, are dispatched on an investigation that will ultimately impact their own families.
Summing up the show, Apc states in its tagline: “An effective whodunit taking us to a never-seen-before, magnificent French countryside. The duo of female cops, mothers and friends, turn a small community inside out.”
Emmanuelle Guilbart, Apc’s joint CEO and founder, says the company picked up the six-part series “for many reasons,” mainly related to its pedigree. Namely, it was commissioned by...

British infidelity drama Doctor Foster is being remade in France with Claire Keim (Insoupçonnable) taking on the main role made famous by Suranne Jones.
The series, which tells the story of a woman who finds out her husband is having an affair and the subsequent chaos it causes, is being produced for French commercial broadcaster TF1.
It is being produced by Storia Télévision, the French business that acquired a number of the television assets of Luc Besson’s Europacorp earlier this year and is owned by Mediawan, set up by French entrepreneurs Pierre-Antoine Capton, Xavier Niel and Matthieu Pigasse. It had previously emerged last year that Besson’s firm would produce a local adaptation of Doctor Foster. It is being produced in association with BBC Studios’ French production division. Here’s an interesting new company in the TV packaging space… Revolution Films founder Andrew Eaton, who produced Netflix’s The Crown, has partnered with The Fall exec producer Justin Thomson and Tracey Scoffield and David Tanner from Rainmark Films to launch DoveTale Media.

It has already scored its first project – a miniseries called Faceless from Spiral writer Virginie Brac and Oliver Butcher, the writer behind Chadwick Boseman’s Message From The King. Thomson has joined forces with Léonis’ Jean-Benoît Gillig and Gub Neal, his former colleague at Endemol Shine-owned Artists Studio, to develop it as an eight-part thriller, a French-British co-pro that will be set in the corridors of power on both sides of the Channel, involving murder, betrayal, blackmail, high...
