Edit
  • Robert's older brother, Thomas Kellard was briefly a bit part actor at Fox. He later quit the business and worked for Lockheed Aircraft and Shipbuilding.
  • According to Laura Wagner's in-depth article on Robert in Films of the Golden Age, Fall 2015 issue, story has it that Robert's Fox Studio contract was the result of an innocent meeting with actress Jane Withers, who took an instant shining to the handsome young man after meeting him at a Los Angeles roller skating rink and he helped adjust her skates. She went to her studio and insisted he be signed. He would later co-star with Withers in Always in Trouble (1938).
  • Made news on August 30, 1939 when he, actor Guy Gabriel and Inez Gibson, a transport pilot, were forced to land their plane in bad weather near a Navajo Indian Reservation near Crown Point, New Mexico. A tribe found them and hailed them as "rain-bringers".
  • Son of Ralph Kellard.
  • Uncle of producer/writers Rick Kellard and Phil Kellard.
  • Buried at Grandview Crematory in Glendale, California.
  • Once wed to fashion model Bebe LaMonte and to Jerelyn Arthur.
