Bollywood has proved multiple times that India can make great movies, no matter what genre or when they are made. From 1551 Awaara, to 1973 Bobby, to 2002 Devdas and to 2023 Jawan — so many movies have been praised by critics and Indian movie fans.
And one of the movies that gets into every “the best” list of Bollywood movies is the one called 3 Idiots. The 2009 movie is a family dramedy, one of the most beloved genres in the industry, and it follows (surprisingly) the lives of three friends.
The cast of the movie is amazing, including Aamir Khan, Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, and Kareena Kapoor as leading stars. The story centers on three friends, Farhan, Raju, and Rancho and their lives through time. The events of the movie are told in two parallel universes: the present one and the one many years ago, while they all were still students of an Indian engineering college.

Director Sarvesh Mewara, who is all geared up for the release of upcoming action drama ‘Tejas’ starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead, has spilled the beans on the inspiration behind the dialogue ‘When in Doubt, Think About The Nation’. Well-studded with nail-biting action sequences, a grand canvas, and an immensely thought-provoking story of national pride, the trailer of ‘Tejas’ has indeed arrived as a treat for the audiences. Apart from all these intriguing elements, what especially stayed with people was the heavy dialogues that profoundly triggered the spirit of national pride.
The dialogue ‘When in Doubt, Think About The Nation’ comes along with the story from Sarvesh, as it has been inspired by producer Ronnie Screwvala’s creation ‘Rang De Basanti’.
The 2006 movie ‘Rang De Basanti’ was written, and directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It stars Aamir Khan, Siddharth, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Atul Kulkarni, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kapoor and British actress Alice Patten.

Kafas(SonyLIV; 6 Episodes)
Kafas which means trapped, is the kind of scarcely-seen series which grips you from the word go. It clasps its tentacles around your neck squeezing the breath out of you.Calling it entertaining would be hugely problematic: you can’t be entertained by a 15-year child being traumatized by a Bollywood superstar.
The unspeakable truth about children being vulnerable outside their homes, even at a relatively safe workplace like a film set, haunts this deftly-told story which opens up its plot points like an onion.
Sadly, in this haunting plot set in the shallow sexually unmoored world of filmmaking, the set is not the only thing that is erect.

‘Music School’ is a slice of life drama revolving around a theatre teacher and music teacher, trying to put together a stage musical based on ‘The Sound of Music’, helmed by former Ias officer and National Award-winning filmmaker Papa Rao Biyyala, marking his full-length feature directorial debut.
The movie opens with a theatre teacher struggling to make his presence count, while other streams take up all the space, students and credit.
Painting, music, theatre, poetry, and such soulful and nourishing creative streams are often sidelined as there is unprecedented academic pressure on students to score good grades, and find a place in reputed professional colleges. But nourishment of the soul is most important; there is nothing worse than the broken spirit of a child.
Shriya Saran (Maria), a music teacher from Goa, joins the school, only to face the same disdain and struggle that Sharman Joshi’s character (drama teacher Manoj) has to contend with.

A group of leading Indian filmmakers and producers discussed strategies for bringing local audiences back into cinemas following the huge rise in Ott consumption in India, at a panel at the International Film Festival of India (Iffi) in Goa.
“The platforms existed before the pandemic and people flirted with them, but when the pandemic happened they took Ott home and started consuming content across different languages and genres,” said Vivek Krishnani, CEO of IN10 Media Network and former Sony India head. “When cinemas opened again, people were shy to return, but the choice of content that drives them to cinemas can’t be same.”
Director-producer Ramesh Sippy, whose credits include iconic Indian films such as Sholay, said this was an issue even before the rise of streaming: “There was a time when you only had to announce a film and people would rush to the cinema without knowing exactly what they were going to see.

It has been over a decade since the release of “3 Idiots” and it still takes me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. Set in the highly reputable (and fictional) Imperial College of Engineering (Ice), the film takes us through India’s mentally invigorating education system amidst class inequality and immense societal and familial pressure. Our three idiots – Ranchoddas “Rancho” Shyamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Farhan Qureshi (R Madhavan) navigate the all too familiar rat race with their uplifting motto “All is well”. Witty dialogues, comedic scenes and catchy tunes aside, this didactic film convinces us that life is more than just a race. Highly decorated with awards, the film establishes itself as one of the best in Hindi cinema and the region up till today.
Loosely based on Chetan Bhagat’s Five Point Someone, “3 Idiots” depicts an intertwinement of two plotlines...
